It is supposed to be the grand return of world cup five. Bumrah and Rohit’s dominant power knocked England and India to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
Jasprit Bumrah’s career-best firing bowling and Captain Hit-man’s bulldozing attack half-century helped India to lead on the first day of the three-match ODI series. Bumrah grabbed 6 for 19, Captain Rohit Sharma scored 76(not out) and opener Shikhar Dhawan scored 31(not out).
The entire middle-order – Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya- did not get a chance to bat.
Rohit added one more 50
Rohit has 44th fifty in ODI, and now he added one more fifty in his bucket! And now Hit-man left past Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, and Kane Williamson to take the top spot.
Bumrah and Shami fell England’s wicket!
We have to say ‘BOOM BOOM BUMRAH’, what happened last night! Bumrah left his career-best bowl to take 6 wickets for 19 and Mohammed Shami added another 3 wickets. Bumrah bowled out Jason Roy after the right-hander dragged the ball onto his own stumps and then swindled Joe Root two balls later with a delivery that nipped away. Both players failed to get runs. England’s night was no doubt a horror night ever.
On other hand, Captain Jos Buttler (30) and Moeen Ali (14) tried to briefly recover but both fell down.David Willey (21) and Brydon Carse (15) helped England avoid their lowest ODI total (84) and go past 100. The Jos Buttler-led side was eventually bowled out for 110 in 25.2 overs.
“If I look back over the past five, six years, our batting has been our super strength and in this form of the game, So you look at the names of the guys in there, they are some of the best players we’ve had. So certainly no need to panic at all.” Buttler said after the match. Panic or not Buttler looked visibly disappointed or maybe angry. But he is right, of course, that they are still good for it. The irony is, that Morgan’s job of lifting the limited-overs standards has made it that much tougher for his mate.
