In a lengthy Instagram post, popular singer Camila Cabello opens up about her body image struggle. The singer admitted that wearing bikinis in public makes her feel “self-conscious.” She also chastised society for creating unrealistic beauty standards for women. The Senorita singer’s long letter arrives just one day after she was papped on a Miami beach in a bikini.
She wrote on her Instagram account in a long statement that every time she have gone to this beach club in Miami she get papped, somehow when she check-in, paps know and get her in her bikini and every time she have felt super vulnerable and unprepared, she have worn bikinis that were too small and paid no mind to how she looked, then saw pictures online and comments and been so upset.
In her statement, Camila Cabello explained how she had to persuade herself when harsh comments affected her self-esteem. She wrote that, she reminded herself when it impacted her self-esteem that she was thinking the culture’s thoughts and not her own. A culture who has gotten so used to an image of what a ‘healthy’ woman’s body looks like that is completely not real for a lot of women.
The note went on saying, “Photoshop, restrictive eating, over exercising, and choosing angles that make our bodies look different than how they are in the moment and in their natural form, when we take a deep breath, when we eat a meal, when we allow the waves to tussle us around. I remind myself of this, listen to podcasts on intuitive eating, follow women who accept their cellulite, stretch marks, bellies, bloating, and weight fluctuations… and still.” She also added saying, “I’m a single woman…. I want to feel like I look ‘good.”
The Senorita singer also mentioned that she didn’t eat anything too heavy before going to the beach today. She added, that she couldn’t let go and relax and do what we’re meant to do when we go out into nature. She tried to pretend they weren’t there but she couldn’t and she held her breath from her sun chair to the ocean.
Camila further revealed her goal of going back to feeling like a 7-year-old on the beach. She looked at a group of toddlers giggling with excitement at the waves knocking them over, no sunglasses, no jewellery, no self-consciousness, just the innocence of children, which is the feeling she have always gone into nature for, her long note includes these as well.
Camila Cabello has already spoken up about her body issues. Recently, Camila also posted a long piece about the “yearning feeling of belonging”. In addition, in 2019, the Havana singer slammed people who tried to body shame her.
The Cuban-American singer, who recently appeared in “Cinderella,” opened up about the challenges of being in the spotlight.
The three-time Grammy Award nominee is no stranger to exposing herself on social media. She made a TikTok last year in which she urged ladies to embrace their natural bodies.
