“Let them” bring back Article 370, which the Centre abolished in August 2019, remarked Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Former Congress politician Ghulam Nabi Azad claimed Thursday that he could guarantee Jammu and Kashmir’s return to statehood but not Article 370.
Because of my dozen Rajya Sabha speeches, I convinced the PM and Amit Shah Ji to regain statehood. At a large meeting in Anantnag, which is in south Kashmir, Azad said, “We’ll get a state, and I’ll make sure we have rights to land and jobs.”
This was Azad’s second public event in the Valley after leaving the Congress and before starting his own political party in Kashmir.
Azad said “let them” promise the reintroduction of Article 370, which the Centre abolished in August 2019; he won’t guarantee something he can’t control.
What happened to their promises?
I guarantee growth. I’ll give you dignity. No policeman or soldier will knock on my Gujjar-Bakerwal or Kashmiri brothers’ doors at night.
I pledge that rich or poor youngsters won’t be jailed for money in Kathua. He said, “Nobody will mistreat our women and girls.”
The former J-K CM also vowed no “false” meetings.
Azad stated, “Once sovereignty is restored, land and job rights will be given only to J-K citizens.” He added, “I can’t give you promises I don’t have.”
He added he had “experience and various programmes” to bring two crore tourists to J-K each year.
His followers said yes when he wanted to create a new political party.
“Will you lead the party? Will you increase it? Azad questioned, “Will you support making Khushaal Kashmir?” “Zaroor,” they replied (surely).
I might have gotten lost in national politics, and attained the pinnacle. J-K is burning, I thought. “It lives in unemployment, dread, and helplessness, and I must help it,” he remarked.
The Anantnag public gathering was Azad’s final in J-K after he resigned from Congress on August 26. On September 4, he rallied in Jammu. In Kashmir, he spoke at a public gathering in Baramulla on September 11 and met with delegates.
