What should the world be like in the future? My wish on Children’s Day is that it should belong to children. How beautiful our country would be if every adult could see any distressed child and ask, ‘What can I do to help?’ It seems to me that all children need help.
Children need the help of adults to learn what life is all about, form thoughts and act with love. Imagine how happy they would be if adults could lovingly comfort them by touching their heads, even when they see strangers who are grieving.
Hope for a world where children, not harmed. I hope there will still be a leader like Jawaharlal Nehru. A leader who gives equal care to children, nature and culture. The selfless service of many is responsible for making the Children’s Home in Kollam District of Kerala the best children’s care home in the country.
The role of CJ Antony, the former chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, is crucial. Anthony was a member of the Juvenile Welfare Board from 1995 and served on the District Child Welfare Committee from 2008 to 2017.
Although not a member of the committee now, Anthony Sir will be present for anything on the Child Welfare Committee. ‘The children in the Orphanage get a lot of sympathies, and they still need to realize that they are tired of it.
People who come to the Orphanage to celebrate their child’s birthday and the parents’ death anniversary celebrate their Orphanage. Don’t let that stop you. ‘People who come to donate food are often unwilling to pay for a child’s education, and this means that these children have no place in the minds of such people.
We should recognize that crime is declining in countries with better child rights laws and child care practices. Sweden is a good example. What they have achieved through the best child care system is a better society.
It should be understood that it is society that becomes polluted when the standard of child care declines.  We see the nutrition system as a way to do that. The family is the right of the children.
All children want the love and care they receive in the family. When you bring a child into the care of your home, he becomes a good person to the community. Only when they know love and care will they become human.
Orphanages need to eliminate; there should be a system of leaving orphaned children directly in the care of families. That is the way it is in England. Each police station will have juvenile justice officers.
The orphans are cared for by deserving families under their supervision. We need to move to the same system. It is a good sign that a lot of people are coming forward ready for adoption. CJ Antony dreams of a country without orphanages and orphans.
What is nutrition?Â
A project to create a family atmosphere for children who stay at the children’s home without going anywhere. Parents wishing to adopt their children in this way should apply in writing. The next step is to find those who deserve it. For this, the District Child Protection Committee teams will visit the houses of the applicants.
It will be examined whether the environment is conducive to the abandonment of children and the financial capacity to raise children. The method of raising children will also be discussed.
The children will be accessible after the completion of such procedures. The final decision may be to ask for children of choice. Will belong to the Child Welfare Committee. And couples with their children, those without children can also be raised.
Permanent adoptionÂ
Children in the children’s home will also be allowed to grow up permanently in a family environment. The nurturing power is extended every three months after evaluating the mental and social status of the children and the cognitive level of the household. The Child Welfare Committee will take the children back if there is no positive change in the child or if the parents’ mental status is wrong or the economy is unsafe.
Awareness-raising for parentsÂ
Parents will be trained on caring for children and what their needs are before sending their children. A brief description of the child’s diet and other interests will be given. Once this is done, a committee consisting of caretakers and supervisors will prepare an individual care plan for each child. Then hand over the matching ones to the couple.
Excellent careÂ
All the children who go like this come back happy. For some, even minor behavioural problems may be resolved. Many homemakers attend a child marriage and other celebrations, all of which teach a public life. In some places, some parents send their children for holiday dance training and so on. Some parents leave their children to excel in sports.
There is a large group of selfless people behind this institution of care. The strength of this institution is its patient and loving care. I saw a lot of visions of recognition that family is not just about kinship.
In Foster Caring (foster care), Kollam district has been ranked number one in the state and the country by a group of caring people. It is firmly believed that family problems are the main reason for orphaned children.
When their only comfort and convenience are the primary consideration of the parents, the children are responsible for them. There are many happy stories to be told about the hundreds of orphans who were given a new lease of life through the Child Welfare Committee’s foster care program.
Efforts will be made to protect it through adoption and adoption. At the same time, some remain on the Child Welfare Committee with no one to adopt and nurture. The Child Welfare Committee can only protect up to 18 years of age. At the age of 18, their care is often problematic. The problem is that aftercare homes are not desirable for such people.
