China and Taiwan crisis : The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (P.L.A) is planning an attack on the Taiwan mainland according to reports.
On Saturday, in the recent manoeuvres around Taiwan,China is performing some sort of “stimulation of an attack”, according to the Defence Ministry of Taiwan. The Defence Ministry is based in Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei.
Various warships and military aircrafts are operating near the borders of Taiwan. Moreover, some of them have crossed the unofficial central line situated in the 130 kilometre long Taiwan Strait. Taiwan Strait is a crucial as well as strategic point. It is because it separates mainland China and the island. Previously, both sides have respected the borders, according to news reports.
Taiwan has not sat quite and has given a befitting response. Taiwan also sent radioed warnings, and aircrafts along the border. The Taiwan government has also deployed missile defence systems in order to track the Chinese military aircrafts that pose a great threat to their security.
Why has the China and Taiwan crisis arisen?
China considers the self- governing island as its own territory as well as strongly condemns any foreign intervention in Taipei. But recently, the United States first woman speaker of the United States House of Representatives Pelosi made a visit to Taiwan. She has served as a US Representative since 1987 and is a top-level U.S. Diplomat.
This was the first time a high profile figure from the United States had gone to Taiwan for formal meetings in the quarter of a century. China has rebuked the actions of the United States. Moreover, it has asked the U.S to be prepared for ‘severe consequences’ for breaching their repeated warnings.
New Developments in the disputed area:
The People’s Liberation Army of China has sent a “record numbers” of 13 naval ships or vessels into water and 68 military aircraft near the island.
Joseph Wu, Taiwan’s foreign minister condemned the actions on Twitter. He tweeted that there was “a dangerous escalation of the military threat” that was responsible “for wrecking peace and stability in the region and must be condemned.”
Beijing has also launched around eleven ballistic missiles in Taiwan’s direction. One of these ballistic missiles flew very closely from Taipei, Taiwan’s capital for the first time. This was a part of a military exercise of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army that is due to end on this Sunday.
China’s threat to other Nations for interfering in the China and Taiwan crisis:
Meanwhile, China has also warned other nations like the United Kingdom not to support the United States. Or else they would need to face “serious consequences.”
China has also paused its ongoing dialogue with the United States on climate change and other grey areas in military issues. Meanwhile, it has altogether ceased co-operation on matters like organised crime, repartition of illegal immigrants and drugs.
China has also not stopped alleging Pelosi for “seriously interfering in internal matters.” It has imposed unspecified sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family as well as close associates.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has assured that Washington has no desire to see the escalation of further military tensions. He affirmed that they had managed the issue well for more than forty years avoiding much conflict. He hopes that China would “focus” on the above fact.
The recent Chinese Taiwan crisis has further deepened worry among other nations as World War 3 seems near. The already ongoing Ukraine- Russia crisis as well as recent tensions between the two superpowers- China and US- is dangerous for the peace and harmony of the world.
