Beijing:– On Sunday, Shanghai had more than 8,200 local cases and this is nearly 70 percent of the nationwide total. A case infected with a new subtype of the Omicron variant according to the reports by Chinese State Media.

According to the Bloomberg report Chinese State Media reported a case infected with a new subtype of the Omicron variant and according to the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China “There were 1,455 patients with symptoms…. 11,691 asyptomatic cases…. And no new deaths reported.”
An AFP report said that nearly all of the 25 million residents of Shanghai, the epicentre of China’s most severe Covid-19 outbreak, were under stay-at-home orders on Saturday.
