CM Naveen Patnaik of Odisha finally launches the host city logo in the presence of the official U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad on Saturday in Bhubaneswar
As the state government looks very excited to be one of the host cities of the U17 Women’s FIFA World cup and take responsibility to manage one of the most renowned tournaments in the world, Chief Minister of Odisha honourable Mr Naveen Patnaik launched the logo of the host city on 10th October in Bhubaneswar along with the official U17 India women squad.
The logo of the host city Odisha composes of the official emblem of the U17 FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP along with a creative artwork that shows the heritage, culture, and sports culture of Odisha
The matches of this tournament which are to be held in Odisha are going to be held in the Kalinga Stadium which has an estimated capacity of 15,000 seats for the U17 Women’s FIFA World Cup 2022. It is for the very first time that the state of Odisha will witness a big-scale tournament by FIFA. The Government of the state seems very delighted and also Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stated that “Odisha is emerging as a leading sports destination and it is also the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup which is a momentous opportunity for our state”.
He also stated that “We are excited to host the best young women footballers from across the globe, especially the Indian team who will be playing their group stage games in Kalinga Stadium. He even encouraged the people to come in large numbers to support the women of our nation as their first appearance in the tournament”.
There was also the presence of many high-rank officials like the state sports minister Tusharkanti Behera, Odisha hockey promotional chairman Dilip Tirkey, Development Commissioner P.K Jena, 5T Secretary V.K Pandian, School, and Mass Education Secretary S Aswathy, and also other officials from sports and youth services department of the state.
Project Directors of the LOC (Local Organising Committee) for the tournament, Ankush Arora and Nandini Arora, also showed their gratitude and honour by stating “the state of Odisha has been forthcoming, proactive, and generous with their support, time and initiatives. We are very thankful to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and all other stakeholders who have left no stone unturned in preparing to successfully conduct the U17 FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP for India”.
The ticket sales for the group stage matches of India along with the USA, Morocco, and Brazil have already begun.
On this occasion, a very special initiative has been taken which includes the school children which will engage around 60,000 school children over 35 days which will be called “kick off the dream football carnival”. This carnival is about introducing football to children and normalizing gender-inclusive participation by featuring football-themed games and activities as well as five-a-side and three-a-side football matches which will conclude on 17th October 2022.
