CM of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee seems to leave no stone unturned to address issues concerning her state and people. The “ma, mati, manush” leader is always stirred forward by a necessitating factor to keep her state in the headlines of news making.
Talking about the recent issues concerning her state, the Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has decided to sit on a dharna in the city to address the same. She was headed to Bhubaneswar from the Kolkata airport when these statements were recorded. It would be a 2-day affair from March 29-30 commencing from noon on March 29. She is firm to state her issues concerning the delay in receiving funds from the center. According to the state, dues of almost Rs 1 lakh are unfulfilled. Finance deprivation lies in areas of 100 days of work, Awas Yojana, and Gramin Sadak Yojana. Consequently, the state has decided upon an ultimatum to bear the cost of constructing 12,000 rural roads.
Besides, the demonstrations shall address issues of neglecting the state despite Banerjee making frequent visits to the national capital meeting the PM, or writing rounds of letters to Home Minister Amit Shah. It was almost in the recent past that such actions were taken. However, time and again non disbursal of funds has been an issue of receiving perpetual complaints.
Opposition alleged Mamata Banerjee playing “pressure politics”
On the other hand, accusations from the opposition allege this move by Mamata Banerjee as “pressure politics” and a bid to move away from addressing apparent concerns. The party has seen several ministers accused of engaging in a string of corruption scandals rising from teacher recruitment scams to cow slaughter. As a result, central agencies like the CBI and ED have gone through rounds of investigation in the state. The CM in a bid further accused this situation of actions that are being initiated as per orders from the center.
This debate of accusations is going rounds from both sides. She will surely not stop in the city itself but also made it pretty clear in her statements that this shall be further extended to the local districts and blocks of West Bengal. This might be in the form of a bid to make the beneficiaries of these finances aware of their dues. These incidents have also been previously reported several times in the year 2021 during elections.
Several interpretations have led to the fact that it is a bid put forward by her to put up the picture of the state at the national level. Significantly, it might draw questions thereafter from critics and media alike regarding the recent pandemonium that is occurring in the state. The state news channels are busy covering these scandals day and night. Glorifying court proceedings of the accused seems to draw more audience attention in the way it is being represented and broadcast rather than glorifying the plight of people who have been sitting on similar dharnas to demand their fair share of what they deserve in the form of jobs or education. Thus, the outcome of these dharnas is the real determinant of how successful its impacts would be exercised in the long run.
