The Union Health Ministry reports fresh covid cases in India as the country reports a 66% daily caseload on Wednesday.
After a day of respite, the daily covid cases in India surged and saw a 66 percent daily caseload on Wednesday. More than 2,067 cases were registered in the same period, and forty covid link deaths were reported.
Compared to the cases registered on Tuesday, India has witnessed a 65 percent increase in Covid Cases. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family welfare, the Covid cases in India rose to 4,30,47,594 specifically, while the active cases in the country have proliferated to more than 12,000. The daily positive rate was 0.31 percent, and the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.38 percent.
In the last 24 hours, 796 Covid patients recovered from the disease. The ministry said that the national recovery rate remained at 98.76 percent. Meanwhile, the spike in Covid Cases in India raised a red flag directed at three states and the union territory of Delhi. The emergence of the new variant globally, ‘XE,’ has further fueled concerns over the spurt in cases.
According to top scientists, the fresh spike has led to worries about the fourth wave of Covid cases in India when the country is stepping its foot forward to the pre-normal time. Even the positivity rate of cases is hovering over the danger mark. WHO, in its statement, said the positivity rate above 5% or more is a cause of concern for the country. Some experts also believe that the upsurge in cases could also be due to the government’s order to drop the usage of masks.
States like Maharashtra recently issued orders to stop wearing masks after a steady decline in the number of cases. It is believed that the surge in cases could be due to this. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has advised all the states to continue monitoring the increases in cases and take prompt actions to tackle the situation to manage Covid cases in India effectively.
The data by the government reported that 83.14 crore tests had been conducted in India so far, with more than 4 lakh tests undertaken in the last 24 hours. Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, a total of 186.38 crore vaccine doses have been distributed.
