The Karnataka state election was held on May 10, and the results of the election was soon out on May 13, with the Indian National Congress Party bagging the victory in the 224 member assembly by 136 seats.
The party has two pillars who are both strong leaders and play a vital role in the party and its win. DK Shivakumar a eight time MLA has been in the party since his age of 27, has consistently been a support to the party since then, and won this time’s election with 1,21,595 votes with a margin of 19,753.
And Siddaramaiah who has been in the party since 2005. He has already been The Chief Minister of the state once from the Indian National Congress Party in the year 2013, and twice as the Deputy CM from the Janta Dal Party in the years 1996. He won with 1,19,430 votes with a margin of 46,006.
The party was in a dilemma of whom to choose as the Chief Minister of state even after the results were out. On Wednesday, the two contenders had been to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi at his residence, to talk about the CM post which was a day after they met with Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Congress party had allegedly offred two choices to Shivakumar – a term shared with Siddaramaiah or post the Deputy CM t. After days of hectic negotiations the party concluded that Siddaramaiah will be the state Chief Minister. And DK Shivakumar will be the Deputy Chief Minister.
Siddaramaiah has been sworn in as Chief Minister of Karnataka, for the second term today, along with DK Shivakumar the Karnataka Congress president as the Deputy Chief Minister.
The oath ceremony took place at 12.30 PM at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, where Mr Siddaramaiah took oath in 2013, when he became Chief Minister for the first time.

Apart from Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge were invited leaders of several parties that are like minded for swearing-in ceremony that is shaped to be a show of strength for opposition parties amid efforts for unity to take on the ruling BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The political leaders that are present in the event are Chief Minister M K Stalin,the political leaders attending the event are Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot,Chattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bhagel, Himachal Pradesh, CM Sukhwinder Sukhu, Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav,Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and Actor Kamal Hassan.Â
