Congress president Sonia Gandhi called for an interrogation round on Thursday by ED in connection with the alleged National herald money laundering case. The questioning began around 12:30 pm and went for two hours at the ED’s headquarters in central Delhi.
The enforcement directorate questioned Sonia Gandhi in connection with the National Herald money laundering case.
She was accompanied by her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Sonia Gandhi Vadra. After some time Rahul Gandhi left the ED’s headquarters. While Priyanka Gandhi waited in a separate room till Sonia Gandhi being questioned.
The ED officers have to cut short questioning hours as Sonia Gandhi recently recovered from covid-19 infection and was not feeling well. She requested a spacious and ventilated room for her questioning and also asked the officials and staff to get their covid test who interacted with her.
The Congress president was questioned by Kuldeep Singh, an Assistant Director at the Enforcement Directorate and a woman officer was also part of the questioning team. Earlier, who had also questioned Rahul Gandhi regarding the case.
She has quizzed on the same set of questions which were asked to Rahul Gandhi during his five-day questioning. Sources assert. She replied to about 27 to 28 questions.
The Congress party chief told the officials that she needs to take her medicines on time owing to her recent covid recovery and the agency ended the day’s session on her medical grounds.
She has to appeared again at the headquarter for a second round of questioning on July 25, officials said.
The following case is related to alleged financial mal practice in the congress promoted young indian private limited, which owns the National Herald newspaper.

Congress leaders, workers show solidarity for Sonia Gandhi by protesting in various parts of the country against the questioning by the ED despite knowing she is unwell. They alleged misuse of central agencies by the ruling government.
Party MPs and Congress working committee members, put allegation on the Modi government for running ‘political vendetta‘ against Sonia Gandhi.
Further, they alleged that the Delhi police restricted the media from entering the AICC headquarter and this ‘high-handedness’ clearly reflects the mindset of the Narendra modi government.
“All Congress MPs and CWC members have courted mass arrest outside our party HQs in a show of collective solidarity with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, a target of Vishguru’s political vendetta. We are being taken away to a police station in old Delhi evidently,” (sic) said party leader Jairam Ramesh.

Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said the ED should first hold a press conference regarding the charges put on Sonia Gandhi.
Party leader Sachin pilot told the media that the ruling government blatantly misusing the agency and their sole objective is to indulge in “character assassination” of Congress leaders.
The protest was joined by several opposition parties showing solidarity with the congress president against the ED questioning.
