A country is not considered as independent until its women are safe.Â
I have read this quote during my school days our teacher miss Anita use to say that a country is not independent until it’ women are safe. I still remember that day there was some science exhibition going on where we use to submit our project related to women empowerment and safety. It was a big competition for all the schools in that state different politicians have also come to visit and see the future of youths. As if a youth is doing something for world and society it’s privilege of studies they have got at that young age.Â
Miss Anita Mathur our principal was a victim of child abuse at a very young age she also runs NGO in the outskirt of Delhi. When asked to a girl that what she wants from the country?Â
She got choked and confused as a child would be saying money, education and play but everyone gets shocked after the girl answered safety fumbling her voice, safety I want safety.Â
She said that I don’t want money, infrastructure, development I just want to be respected for being a woman of this country I want to live like, Sita, Laxmi I don’t want to be caged up at night that something will happen with me, in the fear of judgement that what the society is going to call me if I walk to the streets of Delhi at 3a.m nothing more than a woman.Â
I want to reach out to every person who is underconfident, fearful for being women I want to be safe like tiger that you can’t hunt me anytime anywhere, I don’t want to being compare for my gender as weak/strong on the basis of my body.Â
I want to be free living in the country where a woman is safe and respected.Â
It’s been 10 years to now things, world has been changed from perception to personality everything has been changed either it’s someone appearance or a mercy to a culpritÂ
S it’s the rea of modernization we are living in the digital media world fully captured with media all around from social media to communication media.Â
This plays a very important role in human life for truth and false for violence and non-violenceÂ
This is what has happenedÂ
A man — who, along with his friend, attempted to rape a minor in Mumbai in 2015 — has been awarded a 10-year jail sentence. The court refused to show leniency on account that the rape was not committed by the accused.Â
A labourer has been convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison by a special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for attempting to rape a minor along with another person in the Aareyn area of Mumbai in 2015. The other accused in the case had died in custody. So, the case against him was closed.Â
Special judge HC Shende in a detailed judgement said, “Even in ordinary criminal terminology, rape is a crime more heinous than murder as it destroys the very soul of a helpless woman. In this matter, the minor victim was a slow-witted girl. The accused persons were from her area, knowing well about her abnormality. They lured her with Rs 10 and tried to rape her. The gravity of the crime, therefore, is increased.”Â
He added, “This is a case where the crime had a deleterious effect on the civilized society. Ordinarily, the offence of rape is grave in its nature. More so when the perpetrator of the crime committed rape on the minor victim who is a slow-witted girl.”Â
The complainant stated she worked as a gardener and lived in Aarey with her children. She did not put her daughter in a school due to her inability to comprehend things quickly. In Sept 2015, when the woman returned from work, she noticed a difference in her gait.Â
Later, she noticed some differences in her behaviour as well. When asked about it, she told the woman that the accused, Nilesh Urade, and the now-deceased accused, Risha Hadal, took her to a nearby forest. They lured her by saying that they would give her Rs 10. In the forest, they disrobed and sexually assaulted her.
