The probe team moved to the trial court, stating that the ongoing investigation would be affected by granting bail to the actor.
Crime Branch has submitted the petition to the Special Court to cancel actor Dileep’s bail in connection with the 2017 actress assault case. The Crime Branch stated that Dileep has influenced witnesses and destroyed mobile phones’ evidence violating the bail conditions.
The case has taken numerous twists and turns in the past few months after new conspiracy charges were leveled against him. Earlier attempts to get him and his close associates involved in this case had gone in vain, with the Kerala High Court granting the actor an anticipatory bill. However, the probe team is currently set to call the actor’s wife, Kavya Madhavan, for arousing confusion.
Cyber forensic expert Sai Shankar, one of the accused, filed a petition in the high court alleging that he was being threatened by Crime Branch investigating officers to give a statement that he had seen some of the visuals on the actor’s phone and Dileep and lawyers forced him to delete the evidence.
In an interview with The News Minute, Sai said that the lawyers from Raman Pillai Association were the first to approach him for technical help. As per the actor’s requirement, images were transferred to a pen drive, but no evidence was tampered with on the phone. The mobile phone plays a pivotal role in the case in which Dileep is embroiled. A crucial video clip on the sexual assault of the famous actress was in his possession.
Also, crucial shreds of evidence like audio clips belonging to Dileep and other accused were likely on the phones. During the forensic investigation, it was found that the iPhone that belonged to Dileep was tampered and some content was deleted two days before it was submitted.
A fresh witness emerged in the actor assault case following disclosure by Malayalam Director Balachandra Kumar. In his statement, he mentioned that he met the main accused, Pular Suni, at
Dileep’s residence when he went to discuss a script. The director also claimed that the actor had invited him to see the video clipping of the assault.
Soon after the disclosure, Dileep, his brother-in-law, and two others were booked under conspiracy charges of influencing witnesses and destroying evidence. In March, the court rejected the actor’s plea to quash the new charges.
In 2017, a leading women actress was kidnapped and allegedly sexually assaulted in moving for two hours. The entire act was filmed to harass and blackmail the actress. There are ten accused in this case, including actor Dileep. The prosecution, in his statement, raised concerns about how Dileep had planned this earlier to set an old score with the actress.
