Dolores Aveiro, the Cristiano’s mother, has talked about his plans to retire and confirmed that he will be leaving Manchester United.

The 37-year-old Ronaldo declared earlier this month that his “journey is not over” at the highest level. After only one season at United following his high-profile return from Juventus last year, the forward intended to leave the Red Devils this summer, but he remained at Old Trafford.

In his 189 caps for Portugal, Ronaldo has scored 117 goals, making him the highest-ever goal scorer in international football. He hopes to play in at least one more major international tournament during his career, and he will serve as captain of his nation during the World Cup finals this year.

This World Cup marks his tenth appearance in a major final. He first made an impact for Portugal at the Euro 2004 tournament. He also played a key role in Portugal’s victory at Euro 2016 – the first time they had ever won a major international trophy – and in their first Nations League victory in 2019.

He now wants to win the World Cup for the first time. Portugal is one of the outsiders, but they have a lot of talent, like Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Felix, Diogo Jota, and Rafael Leao.

After each player at Man United had their weekly wages reduced by 25% as a result of the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, Ronaldo was “upset” to see his pay reduced. But he couldn’t leave because no team would pay him what he wanted or give him regular football.

Dolores confirmed to Nova Genta that plans exist to bring the Portugal international back to Sporting CP, which was his first senior club and where he developed before joining United for the first time in 2003.

Ronaldo’s mother elaborated: A return to sporting activities is a possibility, but not right now. This was not the year to do it, but maybe next year. If God wills it, this will occur this year or next! He already knows what I mean: Son, I would like to see him once more in the Sporting shirt before I die.

“His son, Cristiano, will arrive if Ronaldo does not.”That will be his fate. He is playing better than his father for his age! Cristiano will succeed Cristiano. If they both went, it would be my dream to live in Lisbon and play for Sporting. He has already stated that he wants to do both.

When asked about Cristiano’s retirement plans, his mother continued, He has a strong desire to play until he is 40 and continue.”That would keep the striker in the game until the end of the 2024/25 season, making it 23 seasons at the highest level of football.

When discussing his plans for the future, Ronaldo stated earlier this month at the Quinas de Ouro Awards: I hope to remain a member of the international Portuguese team for a few more years. I’m motivated, and I have high goals. I want to compete not only in the upcoming European Championships but also in the World Cup. I am in a team with young people.

The striker has only appeared in one Premier League game for United thus far, and he has been left out of the starting lineup for each of the team’s four league victories. He has played from the very outset in the Europa Association conflicts against Genuine Sociedad and FC Sheriff, the last option of whom he got against from the spot.

Ronaldo, upon receiving his award, commented, “Amid doubts regarding his long-term future at Old Trafford: I am honoured to have received such a significant award. I never imagined I could accomplish it. Although the road has been long, I would like to emphasize that my journey is not yet over. Cristiano still has a little bit of him left.

Ronaldo, who does not currently play a lot of football for United, had been anticipating the January transfer window. However, Red Devils football director John Murtough refuted the notion that there will be first-team moves this winter, indicating that the forward will not be leaving the club.

Ronaldo has scored 699 goals in club football and 816 goals in his senior career, and he is still determined to add to the 31 major honours he has already won.
