IPL 2022: With Deepak Chahar being injured, fans are circling around Ishant Sharma as a possible replacement.
Deepak Chahar’s back injury has all but ended his chances of participating in the upcoming IPL-15, adding to the difficulties of the Chennai Super Kings, who are now in last place on the table of the IPL Cricket tournament.
The defending champions have lost all four of their matches in the 10-team competition so far and are positioned at the bottom of the points table as a result of the absence of their strike bowler, Chahar, from the tournament.
After Deepak Chahar was ruled out of the IPL, followers on Twitter set to work thinking about who they thought would be the best candidate to take his place. As a result, they came up with the name Ishant Sharma.
Having played 93 IPL matches, bowler Ishant Sharma may be a very viable substitute for Chahar given his extensive experience in the league. While Ishant’s age of 33 may be a source of worry for the organization, Chennai Super Kings are well-known for extracting the finest performances from their elderly players.
Ishant’s argument that he would benefit from playing under Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may also be persuasive. The lanky bowler was a member of the Delhi Capitals during the previous season, but he went unsold in the super auction for the IPL 15 tournament.
While Chennai Super Kings had always said that their Rs 14 crore purchase would be ready by the second week of April, the extent of the tear meant that there was “no prospect” of him being available for the tournament in question.
They say that the India and Chennai Super Kings spinner hurt his back while he was getting treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru last month.
More than a month ago, Chahar hurt his quadriceps when India played against West Indies in a Twenty20 International match in February. He’s been at the National Cricket Academy to get better.
First, it was thought that Chahar would miss a lot of the IPL matches because he had surgery. But now, because he’s been getting better so quickly, that the Chennai Super Kings could only hope for him to return in the late April.
After failing to finish his session in the third Twenty20 International match against the West Indies in February due to a quadriceps injury, the all-rounder had to be helped off the field by teammates.
The 29-year-old, who was bought for Rs 14 crore in the big auction, could not play in the next game against Sri Lanka because of a back injury.
