The North Cyber Police Station has detained a person accused of publishing morphing pornographic recordings of a girl as retaliation after her family severed connections and rejected his proposal to marry their daughter.
A 22-year-old housewife from Wazirabad, Delhi, named Dipa filed a complaint with the Cyber Police Station, stating that since she had recently gotten married, an unidentified person had been sending her modified pornographic movies to her husband, friends, and in-laws’ relatives on Instagram.
According to her complaint, the accused had been distributing these recordings to her social media friends while using a phony Instagram account to harass her.
A case was opened at PS Cyber North based on the complaint, and action was taken to investigate.
In the course of the investigation, information about the purported Instagram profile was requested from Instagram, and based on that information, the IP addresses and mobile numbers used to register the purported profile were acquired.
The team conducted a more technical analysis of these IP addresses, and after a thorough technological examination, it was determined that the accused was Ankit Bansal.
This defendant was discovered to have previously lived in Tughlakabad, Delhi, but is now a resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
A marriage proposal from the family of the accused was made to the victim, but she declined it because of his criminal history, it was discovered after the victim made inquiries.
The offender was immediately captured on July 16, 2022, by delivering him notice based on technical surveillance.
In this regard, strict adherence to the rules established by the Supreme Court of India in the case of Arnesh Kumar v. State was required.
The SIM card and mobile phone users in the offense were found in his hands throughout the inquiry.
When the accused Ankit Bansal was questioned, it came out that he had previously met the victim’s uncle, and since they both came from the Gujjar family, his family had suggested considering him for marriage. The victim and the accused had begun communicating over the phone to repair their marriage.
The victim’s uncle learned about a rape case filed against the accused, and later the victim’s marriage was fixed elsewhere. As a result, the marriage could not be consummated.
The accused intended to divorce herself after getting married as retaliation. He created a phony Instagram account for this, used old images of the victim, and downloaded nude photos from the internet to create a fake video.
To damage the victim’s reputation, he began posting this video on Instagram and spreading rumors about her in front of her husband and his relatives.
Ankit Bansal, the accused, had previously been discovered to be connected to a rape case that had been reported in Govind Puri, Delhi.
