Government offices in Delhi get an electrical vehicle charging station Â
The Delhi government plans to set up electronic vehicle charging stations in all government offices in capital of India Delhi. The Delhi government said this new policy helps make Delhi environment friendly and boost Delhi’s economy after a setback due to coronavirus.
The government says that currently, there are over one lakh electronic vehicles (EV) all over Delhi. Dialogue and Development Commission Vice Chairperson Jasmine Shah said that EV policy would help Delhi reduce carbon emission by 4.8 Mn tones in the upcoming 4 yrs. Â
The government also ran a campaign named switch Delhi in 2021. The government planned the campaign for eight weeks, from Feb 3, 2021, to Apr 6, 2021.
The surplus focus of that drive was to spread mass awareness to the people of Delhi regarding the benefits of switching to EVs informing people about their policy.
In this campaign, people will learn about the benefits like EVs help reduce noise pollution and air pollution. These vehicles are easy to charge and have low and easy maintenances.Â
The Delhi government said they had framed the most progressive EV policy in the country. This policy aims to make and show that now Delhi is the first electric vehicle city and capital of India. Â
Last week Delhi’s power minister Satyendra Jain announced that the government is planning to set up around 500 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points in 100 different locations in Delhi.
As per the Delhi EV policy, the upcoming new parking constructions shall have 20 percent of EV chargers in parking spaces, and those with more than 100 parking spaces shall reserve 5 percent for such chargers.Â
According to the stats, 9% of sales rise due to this policy in the EV sector. Under its EV policy, the Delhi government provided subsidies to people who opted for such vehicles, with Rs 10,000 per kWh battery capacity. The Delhi government provided a maximum of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for the first 1,000 four-wheeled electric vehicles sold.
The charging cost in their stations will be around RS. 3 to 8 per unit, which means you can fully charge your E- cars at the price of Rs. 80 to 202, and you can easily find your nearest charging stations on google.
The policy also envisaged a broad framework for the push to EVs in all sectors. According to the data, Uttar Pradesh is in the first position and has the most EVs, with 271,365 vehicles registered so far.
The data until Jan 15 given by the Delhi government said that Delhi has 130,544 registered EVs and has become the second-highest among all states and union territories across the county. At the same time, Karnataka comes in 3rd position with 72,544 EVs. Â
Delhi chief minister Arvind kejriwal also said that because the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in opposition for BJP and BJP also have led on south MCD in Delhi, and they are creating problem’s for them by now allowing them to set up these EV stations and also asking for the licenses to set up these charging stations.
The Delhi BJP spokesperson of Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that AAP’s allegations are baseless.
He also noted that we were unfortunate to see AAP leader Arvind kanjira leveling false allegations against our South Delhi Municipal Corporation on the electronic charging station fees issue.Â
