Delhi police chief visits Rohini courtroom crime spot where three gangsters were killed during police retaliation against assailants.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana visited the Rohini court this Sunday. After three days of dramatic shootout in the courtroom, and three gangsters were shooted out that brought the dead. According to officials, the city police chief visited the crime scene and inquired about updates.
According to police, the Crime Branch team, which is probing the shootout incident, also visited the court to re-examine the crime spot.
Jailed gangster Jitender Mann alias Gogi and two assailants were the gangsters killed inside the courtroom in the Friday shootout incident.
Video footage of the incident exposes security lapses in the system. Some policemen and lawyers were rushing out in panic as gunshots rang out inside courtroom number 207.
Joint Commissioner (Northern Range) Surender Singh Yadav was ordered to probe the incident as soon as possible and submit a report.
After the shootout inside Rohini court in Delhi, Advocate Vishal Tiwari and another lawyer Deepa Joseph filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Centre and the states to take immediate steps to ensure security in subordinate courts.
What is Rohini court shootout case?
This Friday, jailed gangster Jitendra Maan, alias Gogi was killed in a shootout inside Rohini courtroom. His two assailants were from a rival gang posing as lawyers when police fired bullets in retaliation. Around 35-40 rounds were fired during the whole incident.
After the incident, lawyers’ bodies in Delhi demanded a probe into the shootout. They called for abstaining from work on Saturday, demanding enhanced security norms inside the seven district courts premises in the national capital.
According to Investigators, as per the plan, killers were supposed to surrender before the judge after killing Gogi.
Still, before moving towards the judge’s seat, the security personnel who accompanied Gogi to the court killed them, considering they might harm the judge and others present inside the courtroom. They added that they are a lot of uncertainty in the case right now.
“We did not get their custody so far and will be interrogating them at length once we do,” said Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner (Crime). A senior particular cell official said the handover formalities regarding one of the accused, Umang Yadav were not ready.
Uman and Mota were interrogated by the particular cell from a house in Haiderpur, based on the CCTV footage from the court complex that showed them moving about in an “unusual” manner.
The house belongs to Umang, said a special cell officer. Tillu Tajpuriya is a prime suspect of police known as the main rival of Gogi, hatched the plan to eliminate him. Police have currently lodged Tillu in the Mandoli jail.
Probable Inter-gang plot
The police suspect that more than one gang might be involved in the killing since one of the attackers, Tyagi, was a member of the Sunil Rathi gang while Jagga belonged to Tillu’s team.
The possibility of a third attacker, who was waiting outside with Uman, is another suspect who is a member of the Naveen Bali gang, investigators said.
Since Tillu is very close to gang leaders Neeraj Bawana, Sunil Rathi, Naveen Bali and Kaushal, all of whom are also under the police radar for any possible involvement in Gogi’s murder.
