Covid far from over, tweets Delhi LG, Center asks states and UTs to speed up booster dose drive
As Delhi experiences a spike in Covid fatalities, Lieutenant Governor asked people to follow covid protocols and said that Covid is far from over.
According to official data, Delhi’s positivity rate has gone up to 14.57 percent. On Monday, Delhi reported 1227 new cases of Covid with more than 8 fatalities.Â
The national capital has been recording more than 2000 cases in the last 12 days.
“We are witnessing a rise in COVID19 infections, consistently high positivity & cases of reinfection. It is essential that we realize that the pandemic is far from over. I appeal to all to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behavior. We cannot afford to let our guards down,” Saxena said in a tweet.
Delhi’s total reported Covid-19 cases so far is 19,85,822 and death toll at 26,389, according to official data.
Two teams of Revenue department officials have been formed by the Delhi Govt for managing Covid data. These teams are responsible for uploading and monitoring of Covid-19 data, officials informed.
Each team will consist of six members each from different departments of the Revenue department, according to the order issued by the Revenue department.
These teams will be headed by SDM (headquarters) Shimray A Bellrose.
Delhi on Sunday reported 2,162 cases with a positivity rate of 12.64 per cent and five deaths.
On Saturday, nine deaths were reported due to Covid-19 and 2,031 cases with a positivity rate of 12.34 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Center has asked states and union territories to speed up Covid booster dose drive. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has appealed to states and UTs to speed up the coverage of booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine by setting up camps under Vaccination Mahotsav Drive.
He also asked states and UTs to promote the availability of heterologous precaution dose of Corbevax vaccine and organize vaccination camps at public places such as railway stations, schools/colleges, and religious places to increase the uptake of precaution dose.
