The dengue cases have doubled during the end of August at the rate of 1400. During mid-august, the number of cases in Kolkata was marked at 700. A Fortnight has doubled the cases of dengue in Kolkata. The figures were given by the officials of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation during the previous month.
The health care officials and doctors of the private hospitals and health care units have said that there was a rise in the hospital admissions too. Since January, as per a KMC official, dengue have risen to 1400 infections.

The number of infections of dengue in Kolkata are reported by the KMC every Thursday. Another news reporter from the city of Kolkata had also reported about 700 cases of the vector borne disease till the second week of August.
None of the state health departments or the KMC have released any official data regarding the number of dengue patients. The numbers were released to the news with the condition of anonymity.
The actual number of deaths from dengue in Kolkata hasn’t been found out, but it is true that many have died and have succumbed to the virus. During Sunday and Saturday, according to the KMC officials, the numbers have risen sharply during the last 2 weeks. The dengue cases have seen a great number of more people becoming ill.Â

According to one of the KMC officials they were going door-to-door and have been asking the households to take care of themselves. They shouldn’t let any water accumulate anywhere in their house since that could lead to dengue mosquitoes to breed.
The KMC official had also reported that they were doing everything to destroy the breeding grounds of the mosquitoes. They were also cleaning the abandoned vacant plots so that they do not turn into mosquito breeding places to create more dengue cases in the people.
1 or 2 Dengue Cases were Treated on a Daily Basis
Till the middle of August, 1 or 2 patients were treated on a daily basis at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS) for dengue cases. The numbers started to rise after that initial period of August.
According to the owner of RTIICS, R. Venkatesh, the group COO of Narayana Health, RTIICS had about 14 dengue cases on Sunday and all of those patients were under treatment on that day. During the previous week, about 10 more patients were admitted to the hospital for dengue.
Sudipta Mitra, who is the chief executive officer from Peerl;ess Hospital, had mentioned that 20 patients were under the care of the hospital for dengue cases. That was the case about 2 weeks ago.
On Sunday, there were 42 patients under treatment at the Peerless Hospital and most of those patients were admitted because their fevers were persistent. Their platelet rate was also going down, according to Sudipta Mitra.

A critical care specialist at the Amri hospital, Amitabha Saha, had mentioned that there were 21 dengue cases under their treatment on Sunday. 2 of those patients were admitted to the unit of critical care within the hospital.Â
According to Amitabha Saha, there were 7 to 8 patients who were coming in for treatment of dengue on an average daily.
According to one of the senior KMC officials, the dengue infections rise in the people during late August or early September. This rise will continue till late October or November, and according to one of those officials, the numbers of dengue cases will likely rise further.
According to the health officials, the aedes aegypti mosquitoes can breed in a spoonful of water and can spread the dengue virus. These mosquitoes are also known as small container breeders.
