After three long years, Raaj Shaandilyaa is back on with “Dream Girl 2” starring Ayushmann Khurrana as ‘Pooja/Karam’ and newly addition to the family with Ananya Panday as ‘Pari’. Raaj Shaandilyaa’s – ‘Dream Girl’ was a perfect comedy jab on the face of audience. Which stands out to be again, with ‘Dream Girl 2’ which released on 25th August 2024.
The film was Subsidize by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, receiving a numerous review over the film from audiences, critics, and reviewers with mixed reactions. The film earned hefty amount, early estimates of about 9.70 crores from day 1. The national chains which been a great contribution to the day 1 collection were, PVR, Cinepolis, and INOX about 60% of the film’s collection of about 5.35 crore was collected from this 3 chains.
Is Dream Girl 2 within a tight Box Office Calendar.
This year was a great success of ‘Gadar 2’ of Sunny Deol and ‘Jailer’ of Rajinikanth, amidst this two films speaking about history which also earned whopping amount in box office collection. Makes ‘Dream Girl 2’ a bit hard to keep its grip over box collection calendar this year and in the audience’s hearts.
But that’s not it, we all aware on September 7th it’s the grand release of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’. Which almost gives Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Dream Girl 2’ a 13 days of limelight. These days will be a turn for them to make a successful comeback of a comedy flick for the audiences. Or the bad reviews to design it’s path of success ladder. With about advance booking for the film – ‘Dream Girl 2’ sold about 26,550 tickets for day 1 collections.

Ayushmann Khurrana with his comedy flick: does it hit “same old jokes”
Day-1 Dream Girl 2 impresses the audiences, with Ayushmann Khurrana’s performance of bang on comedy in the film. But, does it hit “same old jokes”?
Well few of the reviews of the film, that audience felt the movie was in bit rush. One who had watched and remembered “Dream Girl”- 2019 sequel called it a bit of ‘Cringe’ and sometimes entertaining at the same time. From the first day of reaction, film had a contradicting reviews at the same time. One of the unique review had said that – “Ayushmann Khurrana was best thing in movie yet with a messy-massy comedy” and another review was about “Its continuous entertaining from beginning to end with a loud laughter in the hall”.
But, did the movie keep sharing “same old jokes” as 2019 ‘Dream Girl’ or gave us audience a relaxing yet entertaining one this year apart from ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Jailer’. Another review wrote – “It signifies, a family entertainer as Ayushmann Khurrana back with his iconic character ‘Pooja’ and declares a riot from start to end”
Contradicting reviews: will it affect ‘Dream Girl 2’ upcoming Box office collection?
Although, as said the movie ‘Dream Girl 2’ itself has a polarized review of the audience and critics. The movie on first day achieve a lot good reviews with some bad as well.
One user said – “The sequel got a huge success, but don’t think after 3 long years this would make any impact on the viewers” also adds – “Ayushmann Khurrana being the cringest and unable to digest such worst ever”
In the film Ananya Panday also gave a great performance but, the criticizer wrote his part – “DreamGirl2 would have been dream project for Ananya panday’s performances but catches the eye, how can Raaj Shaandilyaa choose her over other talented actresses” next shows up as “film is not upto the mark, but doesn’t laugh with not much expectations.

It’s a sequel o 2019 ‘Dream Girl’, In this year the Dream Girl 2 movie stars in – Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, Seema Pahwa and Vijay Raaz. The movie’s cinematography is done by C. K. Muraleedharan and Jiten Harmeet Singh, Music by Hitesh Sonik with Meet Bros, Tanishk Bagchi, Arko.
The whole film is of 35 crores budget and had estimated ‘Box Office Day1’ about 10.69 crores.
Principal photography began in August 2022 by March 2024 which planned and released yesterday theatrically on 25th August 2024.
The story lined in a manner that – “Karam is small town guy, who lives in Mathura. Struggling with his everyday quest to pay-off his father’s debt. And that to not a single one but Karam’s father had taken debt from people in this whole planet. Where on other hand, we see ‘Pari’ who is deeply in love with Karam but, like always he has been put forward with some conditions from Pari’s father. For which further we see Karam poses as Pooja, which creates huge mess with some drama to it and lots of comedy to handle in the film.”
