Hindu college professor, Ratan Lal says ‘Religious feelings get hurt over everything.’Â
A professor at Delhi university’s Hindu college has been booked for an alleged Objectionable social media post in which he referred to claims of a shivling being found at the GyanVapi mosque. The whole GyanVapI Masjid case has been the highlight for a long time now.Â

s launched under the IPC section 295-A (Malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings).Â
After his post went viral on social media Ratan Lal ask for police security as he was being threatened by users online for his objectionable comments about the whole issue. He explained himself by saying that he has yet to receive any notice from the police but will cooperate with them when it happens.Â
He even explains how he is being treated online and being abused for the statement he made. He explained that he didn’t criticize it but just made an observation, he feels that in our country ‘religious feelings get hurt over anything’ and people will do nothing about it.Â
The professor thinks he is being a target for his role in intellectual discourse. He says that he has been getting so much trolled on the Internet due to the one statement he made, he calls himself a historian who is looking for answers and has the right to ask questions for the same.Â
The post shared by Ratan Lal came amid the ongoing case in the Varanasi court that is the reason why people are being so emotional and intrusive because all of them including the professor is looking for answers. Lal then explained his fear and said that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi telling him about the death threats he is getting all over social media. He asked the Prime Minister to provide him with 2 bodyguards equipped with AK 47 rifles to protect him.Â
An FIR was registered at the cyber police station on Tuesday night. The GyanVapi mosque debate has been going on for weeks now but the issue is from centuries ago. On April 8th, 5 women launched a petition at Varanasi court seeking access to pray at a shrine behind the Western Wall of the mosque complex.Â
