Emily Blunt, the star of films like ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘A Quiet Place’, has stated that she is not comfortable with her daughters opting for a career in acting.
Since she admitted in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK that she had to learn her lessons the hard way, Emily Blunt has been outspoken in her opposition to her daughters’ careers in Hollywood. She also stated that her children are not thrilled with her accomplishments on the cinema screen.
Emily Blunt’s interview
The Sicario star, who is featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK’s July/August edition, claimed that the industry is wholly personal because women are often subjected to more scrutiny regarding their appearance than men.
The 40-year-old actress also said that despite her enormous Hollywood career, it isn’t ‘exciting’ for her kids and that she is ‘totally disassociated’ from her fame. Blunt claimed that she completely dissociates from herself when she sees herself on a billboard and wonders where the person on the poster actually is.
The ‘Edge of Tomorrow‘ actress continued, “I can see my kids doing the same thing, but they might say it’s not exciting for them.” She picks them up from school and takes them swimming, which is exciting to them because they are still young.
Additionally, the actress went farther to deter would-be heroines following her terrible experience in Hollywood.
Blunt continued by stating that she always wants to express her disapproval whenever someone tells her their daughter wants to be an actress.
She went on to say that the entertainment profession is difficult and often quite disheartening. She continued by saying that although many people advise her not to take things personally, she does, especially when people are judged solely based on their appearance. Because of this, one must put up with that aspect of the business.
Daughters disinterested in Blunt’s fame
According to Emily Blunt, her girls are not very interested in seeing her on screen with her husband, John Krasinski. She did, however, mention that her girls, Hazel and Violet, had seen ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Jungle Cruise’, and certain episodes of ‘The Office’, and that they had enjoyed them all very well.
According to Blunt, they already have her and Krasinski as their parents, so they don’t really want to see them on screen. She continued by saying that they don’t rush to see her in a movie, which keeps her modest.
In their London home, Blunt and Krasinski, who were married in 2010, don’t discuss their popularity, although their eldest daughter has begun to recognise it.
The Oscar winner revealed to the Sunday Times in May 2021 that Hazel had asked her whether she was famous when she was at home. Blunt continued by stating that they never use that phrase in their home and that it is plainly uttered at school. She told Hazel that she was not and then inquired as to whether anyone had said it to her.
She clarified that she doesn’t want her kids to feel more significant, unique, or scrutinised than other children. She continued by saying that she would be delighted if they could remain unaware for the longest period of time.
Krasinski’s take
In contrast, ‘The Office’ actor John Krasinski made light of the fact that his daughters once mistook him for an accountant while making an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July.
The 43-year-old actor claimed that because they had never seen anything he had done, they had never genuinely believed he was an actor before seeing DC League of Super-Pets. Only recently have Kransinski’s daughters learned more information about his long-running portrayal of Jim Halpert on ‘The Office’. On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Krasinski claimed that they had questioned him about the office situation.
Krasinski and Blunt both have demanding schedules due to their children and individual acting careers, yet they still make time for one another. A few months after Violet was born, Krasinski clarified that while both he and Blunt play significant roles in their daughters’ lives, it’s ultimately crucial to maintain their relationship.
