The major cabinet reshuffle in French politics announced on 20 May ahead of Parliamentary election next month. The decision came out after the new prime Minister Elisabeth Born is appointed by the French president Emmanuel Macron.
The new Cabinet has 28 ministers and equal number of male and female leaders. The new cabinet has retained three old guards, the Finance and Economy Minister, Bruno Le Maire; the Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, both the Minister have Center-Right background and the Justice Minister, Eric Dupond-Moretti.
Therefore, the newly added Minister is Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna, a Centre-Right. Catherine is currently the ambassador of France to Britain and the Minister has also served as president spokeswoman under reign of former President Jacques Chirac. She replaces Jean-Yves Le Drian, who served 10 years consecutively, first as defense minister and then at foreign affairs.
Although, Defense Ministry will be handled by the Macron trusted Sébastien Lecornu, a former Conservative Party member and former Minister of Overseas Territories.
The Environmental and Energy Planification has given to Amélie de Montchalin, a pragmatic liberal and the civil service minister since 2020, and the newly established ministry of Energy Transition has given to the  Agnès Pannier-Runacher, who is now the Industry Minister.
Meanwhile, all these changes are carefully planned ahead of Parliamentary election next month. In election, there can be very tough fight between the Macron’s La République en March and Le pen’s Rally Nationale, and the Coilation of left parties, as French politiques et society is ideologically divided. Though, Emmanuel Macron party is changing its name from République en March to Renaissance to rebrand its image  as a source of enlightenment.
In presidential election, Macron was won by the 58.5% of votes share and his opponent Marine Le Pen secured 41% of votes share, 7% more than 2017 election. It was a very decisive victory for Emanuel Macron.
In France, the President appoints the Prime Minister among the members of the parliament, and the Prime Minister then choses its cabinet of ministers. In the 577 members National Assembly, 289 seats are required to get a majority.
National Assembly members are elected for five-year terms by a two-round system of single-member constituencies. A candidate who receives an absolute majority of valid votes and votes equal to 25% of the total number of registered voters is elected in the first round. If no candidate reaches this limit, a re-election is held between those candidates who receive a vote equal to 12.5% ​​of the total electorate. The candidate who receives the most votes in the second round is elected.
