Ethiopian Pilots overflew the Addis Ababa runway
Highlights:
- The aircraft which was folding from Sudan to Ethiopia Addis Ababa was safely landed.
- The plane flew over 3700ft from the ground.
- The people on the plane are safe and the agency warned them not to repeat it.
Ethiopian airline pilots fell asleep while flying in the air, the plane took off from Sudan’s Khartoum to reach the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Two pilots slept in the plane the alarm rang. This happened on Monday.
After the plane overflew the city of Addis Ababa the signals are not reached, then Air Traffic control tries to contact the pilot but there is no response from their end. Then ATC made them alert and woke them up, ranging the alarm, the pilots woke up and then back through the landing place affected 25 minutes. It’s very fortunate that no one in the plane was injured and the plane landed safely and people are safe.
As such a situation happened an investigation was done by the aviation pilots’ regulation where it confirmed that the ITA Airwaves Pilots after sleeping who’s plane flying in the air. A similar case happened before in the past, two pilots fell asleep when a plane was flying 38000 ft above the ground which is from Newyork to Rome.
Adding to traffic control data after the plane overflew 37000ft before landing the runway, the pilots are made alert by the agency. “Deeply concerning the incident at the African largest airline-European Airline Boeing 737 ET 343 was still cruising altitude of 37000 ft by the time it reached destination Addis Ababa ” said Aviation analyst Alex Macheras. “Why hadn’t it started to descend for landing? Both pilots were asleep” added Macheras in a Tweet.
Always when a plane flies from one place to another there will be à flight management computer in which the root map is given to the pilot and the plane on Aug 15 is expected to reach the runway designated for it. So, when the plane didn’t reach the designated runway then the agency was alerted and the alarm rang loudly.
A Policy called Controlled Rest:
Pilots in the airplane do asleep while flying in the air, when it is a long-distance destination they will be allotted 4 members and short distance there will be 2 members when this is 4 in the plane one can take rest or sleep at the back of the seat and integer will take care of rest, such policies have drawn by the agency and this process is known as “Controlled Rest”. But this is not the way to doze off in a critical situation like landing and taking off.
The Co-pilot who is monitoring the cockpit and the radio communication is not supported to initiate altitude changes when his or her colleague is taking rest., because their area possibilities of aircraft overshooting the desired altitude” a senior captain expanded.
Already a report has been given just a month ago that the pilots at SouthWest airlines and deter airlines warned executives of airlines that pilot exhaustion was on the rise and urged them to treat tired which results in safety risk.
The exam problem behind the situation is not known, why such a problem arises is not assumed but one of the reasons behind it may be the pilots’ fatigue, aviation experts said.
