Sydeny Sweeney is set to make her Marvel debut in Sony’s “Madame Web.”
Sydney Sweeney, who plays the role of Cassie Howard in Euphoria, has been cast in Marvel and Sony Pictures’ upcoming film Madame Web, also starring Dakota Johnson. According to Deadline, Sydney has joined Dakota Johnson in Madame Web, though her role is undisclosed.
The film will be directed by S.J. Clarkson and the script was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, while Kerem Sanga wrote a previous draught of the script.
Madame Web will be the first female-led superhero movie in Sony’s Marvel movie franchise.
In the comics, Madame Web is described as an old lady with a long-term neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis. In order to live, she is connected to a life-support system that resembles a spider web. Due to her age and sick condition, Madame Web never actively battled any villains.
According to recent rumors, Madame Web will film this year. Madame Web first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 (1980), created by Dennis O’Neil and John Romita Jr.
Sweeney received praise for her performance in the HBO series “White Lotus.” On the film front, she had prominent parts in Amazon’s The Voyeurs and Blumhouse’s Nocturne.
Currently, she is shooting Tony Tost’s National Anthem, sharing the screen with Halsey and Simon Rex. She plays the role of Cassie in HBO series ‘Euphoria’ which is the network’s second most watched show, behind Game of Thrones.
