Ex-boyfriend Jovanni Sirio-Cardona, has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of Silva Lopez. The incident occurred in Colorado and the 16 year old will be charged as an adult as announced by the Weld County District Attorney.
The 16-year old boy killed the victim because she wished to break up with him and he did so in the presence of her younger brother in the same house.
On June 16, the first responders of the police had found Silva-Lopez dead in a trailer home, shot multiple times, bleeding due to the same gunshot wounds. Upon further investigation they got to know that Sirio-Cardona showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s house and forced his way through the bedroom window. He shot 15-year-old Silva-Lopez multiple times and then left.
The nearby neighbors heard multiple gunshots, enough to have them running out of their house to the trailer home. Silva-Lopez’s younger brother was in the other room watching television when the incident occurred.
The 13-year-old heard multiple screams and shouts followed by gunshots, his sister asked him to run away as this occurred. He even saw Sirio-Cardona holding a black gun and a green scope. The brother pleaded for his life as the ex-boyfriend took his iPhone and made sure he could not seek any help.
According to the arrest affidavit the younger brother saw the ex-boyfriend standing over his sister’s body with blood dripping from his nose. He even asked him for help to move the girl’s body and later dragged it back to the room on his own. After Sirio-Cardona reached home, he showered and had a change of clothes and allegedly told his grandmother that he did what he had to, and he shot someone.
Upon questioning the family told the investigators that Silva-Lopez had tried to break up and end her relationship just four weeks ago but the ex-boyfriend was not happy with this decision. She had decided to do so because he used to physically abuse her in the course of their relationship. He was sighted stalking the house two days before the incident according to the records. And so, unable to agree to separate, he decided to threaten her with a gun and holding it against her, he asked demanded that she love him and remain with him.
