Amid speculation about Kuldeep Bishnoi joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the four-time Haryana MLA and two-time MP met Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda in New Delhi on Sunday.
In yet another setback for Congress, its senior leader and Haryana expelled MLA met the Home Minister and BJP President Nadda in New Delhi on Sunday. Bishnoi who had cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections last month has been expelled from the party, the cross-voting by Kuldeep Bishnoi led to the defeat of Congress candidate Ajay Maken.
Following this, Bishnoi was removed from all positions of the Congress party. Bishnoi was disappointed with the top leadership of the party after it appointed Udai Bhan, who is known as a close aid of former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda as the state Chief of Congress.
Bishnoi was in the race to become the President of the Haryana Congress. However, interventions from Hooda led to the appointment of Bhan as state President.
After the new Congress Chief in the state was appointed, Congress Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said Bishnoi would have been the best person for the job, but it was the party’s decision to appoint Bhan as the state president.
Later, Surjewala said Bishnoi is very capable, talented, and polite, and the Congress Party needs leaders like Bishnoi, an MLA from Adampur. Adampur is considered to be a stronghold of the Bishnoi family for the last several decades.
Earlier, Kuldeep Bishnoi said he was very disappointed at the party’s decision and would take a call after meeting with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Bishnoi, who had been removed from all key party posts by the Congress after he cross-voted against the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate Ajay Maken on June 10, has been licking his wounds since.Â
