The much-awaited ‘Barbie Dreams’ is out now, On July 7, the much-anticipated K-pop collaboration song between artist Kaliii and girl group FIFTY FIFTY was made available as audio on streaming services. Barbie’s official soundtrack features Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, and other top actors.
Barbie Dreams with Fifty Fifty and Kaliii
Due to it being FIFTY FIFTY’s first collaboration and worldwide effort for an OST, the song that will be included in “Barbie The Album” has been anticipated for a very long time. A portion of Janet Jackson’s song Together Again can be heard in Barbie Dreams. And while internet users had various opinions about using the sample, many just took pleasure in the occasion. The tune is a wonderful fit for the upcoming Warner Bros. movie because it has a very on-brand sound and fits with the Barbie emotions. In keeping with the mood of the film perfectly, FIFTY FIFTY and Kaliii have painted the globe pink with a dash of sparkle and stars.
While many have voiced their disappointment at being “robbed” of a music video including the FIFTY FIFTY members, the release is being praised for featuring Kaliii and the voices of Aran, Keena, Saena, and Sio. It is known that although a music video was initially intended to be included, the concept was abandoned as a result of the continuing legal dispute between FIFTY FIFTY, producer Ahn Sung Il, and their agency ATTRAKT.
Legal battle between FIFTY FIFTY and the agency
On June 19, the group requested an injunction to halt their exclusivity agreements with their management label, ATTRAKT. Just the other day, it came to light that the company said they wanted a chance to properly engage the members after the initial hearing on July 5. The four members, however, reportedly cited a dearth of settlement records, a lack of management resources, and a breach of healthcare standards as justifications for seeking suspension.
In the meantime, there have been rumours that the FIFTY FIFTY members have registered trademarks for both their stage names and the group’s name in Korean. According to the statement of their spokesman, ATTRAKT was unaware of the same.
Barbie gets Fifty Fifty
The band was previously known to be a part of the Barbie movie’s star-studded official soundtrack list, which also includes Dua Lipa, Charlie XCX, Khalid, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, and others. Barbie Dreams was to be released by FIFTY FIFTY and Kali, and a music video was to be made for it.
However, it has been discovered that the music video’s filming has been cancelled as a result of the highly publicised dispute between ATTRAKT, producer Ahn Sung Il (SIANH), and the group’s members. In response to the rumours, the agency stated that they were unable to carry out the plan due to the current circumstances as well as the health of member Aran, who was later discovered to have undergone surgery. Rumours of the girl group’s music video shoot for their upcoming official soundtrack release for the highly anticipated movie Barbie being cancelled circulated online shortly after the music video for their popular single Cupid’s achieved 100 million views on YouTube. The group’s attendance at this year’s KCON LA was cancelled, according to a statement from the team’s agency ATTRAKT, during this time. Since then, additional stories of numerous endorsement agreements failing to materialise have surfaced.
