On Monday morning, a low pressure area developed in the Northwest and adjacent West Central Bay of Bengal as a result of cyclonic activity in the same area that extended up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Even though the monsoon for this year is currently in its final phase, rain has been falling nonstop in the various areas of the nation for the past few days. A rain alert has now been issued for Tuesday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for a number of states.
At several locations in the north coastal districts, at a few locations in the south coastal districts, and at one or two locations in the Rayalaseema districts, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected.
On Tuesday, the northern coastal regions were expected to experience isolated areas of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. Lightning-accompanied thunderstorms are expected to occur in remote areas of the southern coastal regions. In remote areas, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph are likely. The Rayalaseema region didn’t receive any weather-related alerts.
As ‘light to moderate’ rainfall is predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, some areas will remain on yellow alert. Meanwhile, Telangana’s northwest region may get significant rainfall. Due to the forecasted high rainfall, the state of Odisha will continue to be on orange alert during this time. Additionally, landslides in hilly areas, the wall collapsing of homes that are at risk, and waterlogging in low-lying portions of Odisha are also potential outcomes.
“Telangana is likely to have light to moderate rains over many locations in the north and northeast districts of Telangana, and heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the north-west districts—Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri, Khammam, Suryapet, Mehboobabad, and central districts of the area,” director at the Hyderabad meteorological centre Dr. K Nagaratna told news agency ANI.
The Met department advised against fishing Tuesday off the coast of Odisha due to the possibility of squally weather with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph over the northwest Bay of Bengal. According to the Met office, there are also a few locations in Cuttack, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj where heavy rain is possible.
At several locations in the north coastal districts, at a few locations in the south coastal districts, and at one or two locations in the Rayalaseema districts, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected. In the meantime, the Southwest Monsoon has been strong throughout Rayalaseema and busy over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
In Coastal Andhra Pradesh, significant rainfall was reported in a few locations in West Godavari district and very heavy rainfall was reported in a few locations in East Godavari district. In the 24 hours leading up to 8:30 am on Monday, light to moderate rain fell in a number of locations in coastal Andhra Pradesh and one or two locations in the Rayalaseema region.
Vararamachandrapauram in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district reported the maximum rainfall of 13 cm, followed by Kunavaram in the same district and Eluru Town in the Eluru district with 11 cm.
In addition to this, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya are all expected to receive rain. The days of September 22–23 might possibly see very severe rain in Arunachal Pradesh.
In various areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Maharashtra, the IMD has predicted rain. In contrast, there is a possibility of rain in numerous locations in the Konkan, Goa, and south Gujarat.
The weather in the Delhi-NCR region is still pleasant because of the rain. In Delhi and its surrounding areas, the IMD has predicted light rain and a typically gloomy sky during the day. On September 21, 22, and 23, light rain and cloudy skies are possible in Delhi and the NCR.
The monsoon’s activity, which has been responsible for the recent severe rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, is still going on. There is a chance of rain again in various eastern regions of the country throughout the course of the next 24 hours.
