France sports minister Oudéa-Castéra ordered an investigation against the FCF (France Soccer Federation) after its president Noël Le Graët was accused of sexual harassment.
On Friday morning Oudéa-Castéra met France Football Federation minister Noël Le Graët which led the minister to order an investigation called the “audit and control mission”, the mission will be carried out by the state inspection body in charge of sports. The took place one day after when the Soccer Federation decided to file a defamation lawsuit against So Foot Magazine when earlier this month, they reported the harassment done by Noël Le Graët. The magazine also described in detail the toxic culture of the Soccer Federation.
Oudéa-Castéra also stated that she took note of what Le Graët had said in the meeting. She even said that it is “imperative that the FFF continues its activities with absolute respect for all employees, regardless of their hierarchical position”.
The minister reminded the Soccer Federation to take precautions and measures to fight against all forms of discrimination and violence, including all kinds of sexist and sexual violence.
Le Graët stated that he will provide all the reports to the inspection mission related to the FFF and his management.
The 80-year-old Le Graët has not shown any reaction to his accusations. According to an interview with the newspaper L’Equipe this week he went against the rumor about him leaving his position after the 2022 World Cup which will expire in2024. He even said that “If my health remains Stable, if I’m well, there is absolutely no reason for me to stop”. “I’m very good at my job and everyone likes me. I’m lucky to be appreciated”.
The FFF is not only the one to be accused this year of accusation and bullying but also the sports minister suspended the 2024 Rugby World Cup Chief Executive Claude Atcher which will happen in Paris.
A request put by Oudéa-Castéra for an investigation showed the alarming managerial practices and the suffering of some employees.
