Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai on Friday said that Google will be investing in the digitisation of India and will be opening the global Fintech operation centre in the GIFT city of Gujarat.
One- on- one discussion with Modi:
Sundar had a one-on-one discussion with our PM on Friday and it is said that in the meeting they discussed about artificial intelligence, fintech, and promoting research and development.
The Indian origin CEO said that he is excited to see the progress that the country has made in the recent years, particularly around the vision of Digital India and the economic opportunity.
After his meeting with PM Modi, Sundar Pichai made the announcement about the investment mase by Google and its plan to open it’s global fintech operation centre in Gandhinagar, at Gujarat.
Modi’s vision way ahead of the time says Google’s CEO:
In an interview given by the Google CEO after his meeting he stated that Modi’s vision is way ahead of it’s time and it is a blueprint which other nations will follow and he is very pleased that he is a part of this vision.
Sundar Pichai said “I now see it as a blueprint that other countries are looking to do so”
Details about the investment:
Google told on July13, 2020 in a conference meet that it is planning to invest $10 billion in India over the next five to seven years to help India accelerate its growth in the digital market.
How the investment will be made:
Sundar Pichai stated that the $10 billion investment will be made in the form of mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments.
Investment will focus on:
The investment will focus on enabling affordable access to every Indian in their own language, building products for India’s Unique needs, empowering business as they are embarking on digitisation process and lastly, they wanted to use the AI and leveraging technology for the social purpose in areas like agriculture, health, education.
India to get its Global Fintech Centre at GIFT:
In the Yesterday’s meeting Sundar Pichai announced that it will open its Global Fintech operation centre at GIFT city in Gandhinagar at Gujarat.
He said that today they are going to announce the opening of Global Fintech Centre at GIFT and said thanks to UPI and Aadhaar for laying the foundation on which it will expand globally

Modi’s Meeting with the Top Companies CEO’s:
PM Modi came to US on the invitation of US President Joe Biden and the First Lady for four days from June 21 to June 24 of 2024. In his last day of his visit PM met with the Top Business Leaders in the world which includes Amazon CEO, Mahindra and Mahindra’s Chairman Anand Mahindra, and Boeing CEO David Calhoun.
CEO’s comments after the meeting:
Amazon CEO said that he had a very good and productive interaction with PM Modi and they have already invested $11 billion and planning to invest another $15 billion in India.
Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra said that the America has recognised that India is the key for its long-term prospects”
India- US Hi- Tech Handshake event:
Earlier in the day PM Modi along with the US President Joe Biden took part in the event. They were accompanied by the top technocrats which includes Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO, Apple CEO and Open AI’s Chief Sam Altman.
