A police spokesman tweeted: “#Terrorists threw a grenade into Gopalpora Chadoora area of #Budgam, injuring a civilian, Karan Kumar Singh.
” #Terrorists threw a #grenade at the control room of the Kashmir Police Department, slightly injuring a police officer. Area #locked down,” he said in another tweet.
Additional police squads arrived at the scene and an operation to apprehend the attackers began. The attack on the Kashmir police control room was the second grenade attack in Kashmir on a single day night. A senior police official said suspected militants threw a grenade at Gopalpora, injuring a minority member.

A member of the minority network became injured in a grenade blast at Gopalpora place of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday evening. A senior police officer stated that suspected militants hurled a grenade at Gopalpora, leaving one member of the minority network injured. Identified as Karan Singh (20) son of Anil Kumar resident of Gopalpora, the injured became rushed to SMHS in Srinagar.

Two consecutive grenade attacks occurred in Budgam and Srinagar. Police said militants threw a grenade at a highly sensitive and vital police control room facility in the heart of Srinagar, injuring police officers.
SSP Srinagar Rakesh Bhalwal told India Ahead the police officer sustained shrapnel injuries to his arm and is in stable condition.

In another incident, militants threw a grenade in the Chadoora area of Budgam district in central Kashmir, injuring a member of the minority group. The injured man was taken to a hospital in Srinagar for further medical treatment. Shortly after the incidents, both areas were cordoned off by joint security forces to track down the attackers.

Earlier today a police officer died a day after being injured in a brief chance encounter in the Nowhatta area of central Srinagar. Police also recovered a scooter and an AK rifle at the scene.
