Former vice-president Hamid Ansari refuted his connection with the Pak journalist. Whereas BJP shows an image to debunk his asserts.
The BJP targeted former Vice President Hamid Ansari over his bogus statement. Reports on his alleged link with a Pakistani journalist with whom he has shared sensitive information sparked a controversy.
Karachi-based journalist Nusrat Mirza has claimed that he had visited India five times during the UPA rule and gathered sensitive information for his country’s spy agency ISI. Mirza asserted that he had visited India on Ansari’s invitation and also met him.
However, all the allegations are denied by Hamid Ansari who clarified that he never met or invited the journalist. Ansari states that “a litany of falsehood has been unleashed on him by the BJP spokesperson and some section of media”.
In an interview, Mirza cited that Ansari shared many “Sensitive and highly classified” information with him, the BJP had accused the former vice president and the congress to be responsible for sharing “Sensitive information” about national security with the Pakistani journalist.
During a press conference held at the BJP headquarters, the party’s national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia showed a picture of Ansari vividly seen sharing a stage with Mirza at a conference in India.
Based on a photograph, Gaurav Bhatia purported that the journalist was invited by the Ex- Vice President at the “international conference against terrorism” in 2009 and said as a vice president he should act responsibly and should have not shared the stage with Mirza.
Attacking the congress, Bhatia claimed that such programmes are conducted after getting clearance from intelligence and they are responsible for inviting dignitaries from abroad.
For a programme of someone holding a constitutional post, protocol dictates that his office gathers information about those involved in the event. In such a situation, would it not be correct to believe that Congress wanted a person from Pakistan to enter India and hurt its integrity, he alleged.
Dr Adish Aggarwala, chairman,ll All India Bar Association has shared an image on Twitter where both Ansari and Mirza were seen present at an event. Aggarwala was the organiser of the event when Mirza attended the event.
In a press statement, he mentioned that the former Vice President and Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had referred to the International Conference of Jurists on International Terrorism and Human Rights held on December 11 and 12, 2010 in Vigyan Bhavan and not to the International Conference against Terrorism organised by Jama Masjid United Forum held at Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi on October 27, 2009. They are trying to mislead the public and media.
Further, he added that the 2009 conference was attended by Hamid Ansari, Shahi Imam of Delhi Jama Masjid National Conference leader Dr Farooq Abdullah and other Muslim leaders.
“Mr Nusrat Mirza at the said event. Whenever an event is attended by the president of india, Vice President of india or the prime minister of india who are adorning the dais, the names of all persons who share the dais are to be first cleared by the said leaders…(sic)”
tweeted by Adish C Aggarwala
Senior advocate Aggarwala alleged that former Vice President and his friends “were fraternizing with the Pakistani journalist at the Jama Masjid United Forum’s Conference”.
Following the allegations, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had said that “insinuations and innuendos by BJP spokesperson are to be condemned in “strongest possible language”.
