Climate change is taking a turn for the worse, the hazardous climate change that challenges global welfare and challenging the international tensions, as warned by the US intelligence community in an assessment. The condition has been worsening day-by-day as the negligence towards climate change despite being aware of the fact that how rapidly it’s deteriorating; we are still adamant about rising and helping not only the environment but also our own lives from the threatening change that it might bring, if not paid attention to, now.
The impact of Climate change would be the deadliest threat to national security, as National Intelligence Estimate its impact through to 2040.
The assessment is a holistic approach of all 18 US Intelligence agencies. Their views on climate change have been presented in the form of an appraisal for national security.
The report alarms the future risks of geoengineering technologies if exploited by one country alone.
Due to this, the countries are more likely to be involved in a discussion over how to respond to the change; moreover, its effects would be felt the most in the poorer nations, which are not capable enough to handle it alone.
COP26 Report
The reports highlight how reluctant the world is to co-operate and participate in preserving the environment from such a threat. It also will lead people to be indulged in hazardous competitions than equally solving the issue as a whole. The report has been issued just ahead of President Joe Biden attending next month’s Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) climate summit in Glasglow, seeking international agreement.
The report warns the countries to get their acts together, try and defend their economics, seek the merits of advanced technologies; as per the report, some nations may not even bother to take any action, as more than 20 countries rely on fossil fuels for revenue generation.
The report also stated, “A decline in fossil fuel revenue would further strain Middle Eastern countries that are projected to face more intense climate effects.”
11 Countries of Concern
As per the US Intelligence report, these 11 countries are potentially required to be more attentive and responsive as these are the ones that are in a vulnerable position concerning their ability to act in their defence against the deadliest climate change horror.
India has bagged up its position amongst the 11 countries, followed by Pakistan and Afghanistan. The report states that these countries must prepare for their defense; however, India would be amongst those countries that won’t be ignorant of this crucial situation. It would fight harder to achieve global welfare, hopefully.
The office of the director of the national intelligence (ODNI) predicted that global warming will harm geopolitical tensions and risks to the United States’ national security up to 2040, stated a senior intelligence official.
The report has been issued ahead of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), held in Glasglow.
The senior official also stated that Afghanistan, a war-torn country with heat, drought, and an ineffective government, is in a worrying situation among the nations of concern. In contrast, India and the rest of South-Asia fight over water disputes have been predicted as an essential flashpoint to consider.
The report also stated that India and China are the fourth and the largest emitters of heat, playing a crucial in temperature rise, on other hand, the United States of America and the European Union are the countries ranking second and third in most significant emissions.
To get out of this dreadful situation, 11 countries need to act accordingly in their defense. The hazardous climate change that challenges global welfare.
