Netflix just released a new trailer and release date for the series, Heartstopper, which is set to premiere this April.
The first trailer of the upcoming series Heartstopper is ready for Netflix. Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. It has a total eight-episode of 30 minutes each and as usual, all of them will be released in one go on the streaming platform tagline penned by producer and writer Alice Osman. It will stream on April 22nd.
The cast includes Joe Locke, Kit Connor, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Corinna Brown, Cormack Hyde-Corrin, Sebastian Croft, Toby Donovan, Kizzie Edgel, and Rhea Norwood. The new trailer gives us a look at the coming-of-age love story that follows imaginative teenager Charlie as he navigates a budding new relationship with a classmate.
Fans awaited a long time to see Alice Oseman’s graphic novel come to life, and now we’ve finally got the first look. The show, like the original comics, will delve into their friendship group as they all try to discover themselves and navigate life along their respective journeys.
The show will highlight fun, romantic elements, as well as it will also explore more difficult topics such as eating disorders and depression among teenagers, especially through Charlie’s struggles.
“They’re both so talented, sweet, funny, smart and so perfect. It’s been so much fun getting to know them and welcoming them into the Heartstopper universe, and I can’t wait to see them bring the characters to life on screen,” the writer added.
The storyline
The series is based on a webcomic and graphic novel of the same name, written by Alice Osman. Osman has written several young adult novels, which often explore friendship, mental health, eating disorders, and LGBTQ+ themes. She first secured a publishing deal at the age of 17, which is no small feat. Heartstopper was originally roped in for television in 2019.
In January 2021, it was announced that Netflix had ordered the first season to go into production. Heartstopper tells the love story of a sensitive athlete Nick (Kit Connor) and the introspective Charlie (Joe Locke), an unlikely pair who meet in class and slowly form an unexpectedly close friendship.
As he gets to know Nick better, Charlie begins to develop feelings – although, as more than one person points out to Charlie in the teaser, they can be one-sided. But some sweet shots of Nick nervously reaching Charlie’s hand and showing up at his door in the middle of a thunderstorm tell a different story.Â
If you’re in romance that cherishes a tight hug, a comforting drink, or a dreamy new couple obsession, allow the Heartstopper teaser to change the entire trajectory of your day in a minute. The new trailer gives us a look at a coming-age love story.
This is just a glimpse of what’s to come in the eight-part series, but the video is full of bedroom dancing, awkward flirting, rugby shenanigans, and a whole lot of yearning. Â
