A bribe of Rs. 1,05,000 for clearing bills was taken by the hospital clerk in Thane.
A clerk working at the Thane Civil Hospital in Thane, Maharashtra was caught red-handed. He was found taking bribe from one of the patients of the hospital. The bribe was not offered but asked for Rs.1,05,000 which was negotiated and brought down to Rs.60,000.
The bribe was asked to facilitate the clearance of the patients’ hospital bills. Out of the agreed Rs.60,000, an amount of Rs.20,000 was paid beforehand. The victim of the incident has raised a complaint against the clerk in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The bureau with the help of the victim and after a little role-playing caught the clerk in a hotel room in the city. The accused was trapped and nabbed by the ACB.
The name of the victim and the clerk are not revealed. The ACB in its report has mentioned the bribe and the arrest has been made. More such arrests are encouraged to be made to delete corruption from society.
By paying a part of the whole agreed amount, the victim is also at fault. But the courage and the strength to report the crime is applauded.
