A new visa regime is granted for 19 countries, including India, as a result of a decree that was signed by Mikhail Mishustin, who is the current Prime Minister of Russia.
On February 15, the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs announced at the State Duma that Russia plans to begin its new policy of offering free visas in eleven countries and will make it easier to obtain visas in six countries. The State Duma is the legislative body that represents Russia’s lower house of parliament.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, a report on the electronic visas that citizens of 70 nations can obtain will be available by the first week of June.
He gave his word that friendly nations would not have any trouble obtaining an electronic visa. The electronic visa facility was on halt due to the Covid pandemic situation.
The western or the non-friendly countries, however, will not be able to avail of this facility. Granting electronic visas to the Indians is in progress.Â
Russia granted the new visa regime to 19 countries namely, Bahrain, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey, and the Philippines.Â
As of now, India has made it into the list of Russian-friendly countries.
The government portal on which the report was published also mentioned that it will enable the citizens of these 19 countries to apply for a 6-month Russian Visa based on their hotel reservation.
Now that Russia has paved the way for India and 18 other countries with the schemes of its new visa regime, it can be a great opportunity for you to check out some of the Russian tourist attractions from the places listed and get your bag packed.
The Altay Terrain
The exalted Altai Mountains hem in the Altay terrain. The calm lakes and green luscious alpine meadows also cram the terrain. Altay is one of Russia’s most ethnic spots and is rich in traditional Russian culture.Â
A significant part of the Altay terrain involves the protected eco-diverse reserves that house oodles of organisms such as the argali mountain sheep and snow leopards.
Altay has also in its ambits the sceneries of Lake Teletskoye and the 4,506 meters high Mt. Belukha.
Russian Tundra
Russian Tundra is so magnificent that it covers almost one-tenth of the Russian territory. The Tundra is swampy and unwooded, spreading across a thin coastal ribbon with a width of around 500 km.
Due to its low temperatures, the soil of the Tundra region is significantly rich in moisture, making it unable to experience prolonged and balanced vegetation. The almost barren Tundra is slightly covered with lichens and mosses.
The Tundra with not-so-rich flora brims with a luxurious population of fauna ranging from reindeer, arctic foxes, snowy owls, musk oxen, ptarmigan, lemmings, and beavers.Â
Kishi Island
Amidst Onega lake is located on the Island of Kishi. It has a spread of almost 6 km in length. The island showcases a magnificent work of traditional crafts and the bewildering beauty of wooden architectural marvels.Â
The island has housed Russia’s oldest living churches, which include the Church of the Resurrection. It has lived in Russia since the 14th century.
The Pogost of Our Savior and the 18th-century Church of the Transfiguration, which features 22 onion domes, are all found on the same island of Kishi.
