OTT platforms are ready to create a phenomenal change in the way sexual desires of women were portrayed in yesteryears.
Previously the concept was that women were the sex toys of men who enjoyed the weaker sex at their will.
For years sexual needs of women were a secret topic which they hated to discuss. If at all a thought about having sex with a man springs up in the mind of women, they never own up to the things they want to explore.
Pallavi Baranwal, a sex coach, thinks that the burden of talking about sex in India is on parents as teachers are reluctant to speak on it.
Furthermore, these parents are bewildered, thinking where to start. She further says that any lack of communication about sex could decompose a couple’s relationship.
India is a country, where talking about sex is considered as wrong. When the educational system of Belgium teaches children as young as about sex, India doesn’t even care about teaching children or high schoolers what sex is?

They have boldly attempted to feature something that is considered forbidden to discuss to change the mindset of society.
Actress Rasika Dugal who has recently won accolades for her role as an unsatisfied wife in the Mirzapur series, said that finally,
days have come when a little importance is given to the sexual desires of women. Previously,
society viewed women as an object to satisfy men’s sexual urge. She also adds that series highlighting the sexual desires of women through a female protagonist has become the recent trend. It is a welcoming change aimed at creating new trends among the viewers.
Even during yesteryears, sex was discussed through metaphors when two flowers come near to kiss each other and fading of chimneys.
From Ahana Kumar’s Marzi to Bombay begums, the makers have given a conspicuous message that they are up to revolutionize female sexuality. This series speaks volumes about the sexual desires of women.
The filmmaker Imtiaz Ali came to support these makers and said that sex had been a topic to control society for a long time.
He also added that the streaming space is attempting to alter the way this topic is discussed dramatically.
This space attempts to view women from different dimensions and attempting to normalize them. It has also tried to focus on the sexual orientation of women and to own up to their actions.
The series also shows us the women who want to suppress their sexual desires thinking it is wrong, making mistakes through their sexual journey, and learning from them. There are many beautiful shows like list stories, married women, made in heaven, etc.
It shows that the audience is ready to accept that women should freely express their sexual desires and opinion about sexual orientation.
Director Abhishek Patel says that is a sign of positive change in society to which Dugal adds increased awareness will build a better community.
