One Direction was one of the most popular bands of their time until 2016 when the singers suddenly decided to part ways. When the band was formed in 2010, there were five boys in their middle and late teens, and their names were Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. In 2010, all of them auditioned for the ITV singing competition separately, although they weren’t selected and were almost sent home. But somehow, the judges thought that they were too good to be sent home, so they decided to form a band, and that’s how one direction was formed.
Who became one direction’s mentor?
Well, the exact date when one direction was formed is July 23rd, 2010. Simon Cowell, one of the show’s judges, agreed to be their mentor and told them that they would have to work very hard, around 10–12 hours per day, to achieve their dream. He also told them, “You guys have got a real shot here,” and well, I guess he wasn’t lying at that time. Simon also told them that they were not good individually, so he put them together into a band. One direction ended up taking 3rd place in the X-Factor. After that, they signed up with Simon and decided to make their own album.
Why did they split?
There have been many rumors regarding their split. Some fans often say that Harry Styles left the band because he wanted to focus on his solo music. It is often said that the boys were exhausted from all the tours and they weren’t getting enough alone time. That’s why Zayn left; he wanted to focus on himself. The band also said that they had numerous fights with each other before splitting up. Liam Payne wasn’t happy with the sudden decision because they had just completed their tour and he wanted to spend some time with the boys, which he didn’t get to.
