Hugh Jackman reveals his James Bond offer and refuses it
In a recent interview, Hugh Jackman said he passed up the chance to play James Bond.
Hugh Jackman, known for his role as Wolverine, recently revealed his offer for James Bond. He has played the Wolverine character in multiple films in the X-Men franchise. And the Australian actor would go on to play the part for literally decades. Now, the wolverine will also be seen in the upcoming movie- Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds.
Following the success of X-men, Hugh found himself subject to many offers in Hollywood, including the part that many action-oriented stars would kill for like, Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007.
Why did he refuse?
In an interview with IndieWire, Hugh Jackman opened up about his career and how he faced problems. “In my opinion, I did not want to take on the role of the action-star hero.” There were so many American films built around that archetype, that meat-and-potatoes. It was all various forms of heroic guys in tough situations. I was like, “Uh, no.” This is a problem.’”
EON Productions had approached Jackman about playing James Bond after Pierce Brosnan, presumably for Casino Royale, and he added, “I looked at it. Then, I thought, “If I’m doing that and Wolverine, I won’t have time for anything else.”
“I find it more interesting to play characters who think outside the box,” he added further.

Who will play James Bond?
With Daniel Craig’s tenure as Agent 007 coming to an end, the producers of the franchise find themselves once again searching for an actor to assume the role. This is with a view to an extensive run. Unfortunately, Hugh seems to be out of contention for James Bond due to his commitment to playing Wolverine one last time (again). In a previous interview, Barbara Broccoli noted her hopes for an actor in his 30s.
