In the video posted on Twitter, the woman seems to have a bit of difficulty in trying to remember her name but with a little bit of effort, she manages to identify herself with the name Minhaj Haidi. She looks extremely malnourished and on the verge of insanity. She looks like she has been suffering from depression for quite some time. The person behind the camera in the video can be seen offering Minhaj some food
Minhaj’s mother, a tenacious woman, sought to find the whereabouts of her daughter after witnessing the horrific video and approached the spokesperson of Majlis Bachao Tahreek and former GHMC corporator, Amjadullah Khan. He used his contacts at the embassy and tracked the girl down.
In the letter to the EAM, she states that her daughter Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi is a resident of Maula Ali in Telangana. She further adds that her daughter went to pursue her Masters in Information Science from TRINE University, Detroit, USA back in August of 2021. She claims that her daughter maintained a very good contact with them back home.
But the concerned mother says that the daughter has not contacted her for the past two months and she was worried. She states that she finally came to know about her daughter when two youngsters from Hyderabad informed her that her daughter was suffering from depression as someone had stolen her belongings. She ends the letter by sadly stating that her daughter was found loitering the streets of Chicago in the USA
She has requested the EAM to kindly delegate with the Embassy of India in Washington and the Indian Consulate in Chicago to initiate the required procedures to bring her daughter back as soon as possible. The mother took steps even further to ensure her daughters safe arrival and attached the contact details of Mr. Mohammed Minhaj Akhter, who happens to be a social activist in Chicago who might be of help in tracking her daughter down. She requests the EAM to take the necessary actions to bring her daughter back home.
As of now, she is reportedly being treated in a hospital as she hasn’t eaten properly for these past two months. Further arrangements have been made to bring her back home once her health is back.
