According to officials, the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force will be able to recruit women as Agniveers while the Indian Army will take on the male recruits.
These Agniveers will serve for four years, of which the first six months will be spent in a demanding training programme and the remaining three in active duty.As per the officials, training for those joining the Army would last anywhere from 10 weeks to up to six months, while training for those joining the Navy will last close to 16 weeks, including two weeks of sea training.They must satisfy the medical eligibility requirements set forth for enrolment in the IAF, which are applicable to the relevant categories/trades.
The “‘Agniveer’ curriculum for the Indian Navy would have 16 weeks of basic training,” Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command, has informed the media. Along with 16 weeks of professional training and two weeks of maritime training.
In accordance with officials’ announcement from earlier this week, 25% of these recruits who are determined to be the top performers and most motivated will be accepted into the Armed Forces for a period of 15 years and receive all the benefits of a regular soldier serving in the forces. At the conclusion of four years, the remaining 75% will be returned.

The 90th anniversary of Air Force Day’s theme, “IAF: Transforming for the Future,” emphasises the necessity for the air force to transform into a “modern and future-ready force,” according to Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
Additionally, the Air Chief Marshal said at the Air Force Day parade that female Agniveers will be inducted the next year.

In his speech, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari said that the Centre has approved the creation of a new weapon system branch for IAF officers. He added that this decision would help the government save more than Rs 3,400 crore because less money will be spent on funding pilot training.
“It is my joy to announce that the government has authorised the establishment of a weapon system branch for the officers in the IAF on this historic occasion. Since gaining independence, a new operational branch has never been established. According to the Air Chief, this will mostly be for staffing the force’s specialised streams of surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, remotely piloted aircraft, and weapon system operators in twin and multi-crew aircraft.
According to Hindustan Times, a number of officers from specialised cadres would be hired to operate the newest armament systems.
