Imran Khan, a former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Supreme Court attorney under the Anti – Terrorism statute, according to his party.
Attorney Abdul Razzaq Shar was shot and killed in a drive-by attack on Tuesday in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. He was en route to the provincial high court when he was the target of the unidentified attackers.
Attorney’s Son Filed Lawsuit
Siraj Ahmad, the son of Shar, filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, alleging in his first information report (FIR) that Khan, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, ordered the murder of his father.
The complainant informed police that he was receiving threats and that his father had filed a complaint against Khan, according to the copy of the FIR that the party gave. He stated, “I name Imran Khan in the FIR because threats were made against my father under his direction.
In April 2022, after the joint opposition had moved a no-trust motion against the PTI government, Khan and former deputy speaker Qasim Suri illegally dissolved the National Assembly. Shar had filed a constitutional petition in the Balochistan High Court against them for high treason under Article 6 of the Constitution.
Attaullah Tarar, an assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had earlier claimed that Shar was slain at Khan’s request to avoid prosecution in a treason case. Raoof Hassan, a spokesman for the PTI, refuted the assertion and claimed that Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister, and Prime Minister Sharif were behind the murder’s preparation.
Separately, Khan was charged with fraud on June 6 at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station for using phoney receipts to purchase Toshakhana items.
The case names Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife, as well as his former aides Shahzad Akbar and Zulfi Bukhari and Bushra Bibi’s acquaintance Farah Gogi.
The complainant, a local watch dealer, claimed that Khan purchased and sold the Toshakhana watch using phoney receipts from his store.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which also filed a criminal case against Khan in a district court where the PTI leader had already been charged, has already declared Khan ineligible in the Toshakhana case. Allegations that he sold presents from foreign dignitaries, including a pricey watch, and neglected to report the earnings to the ECP are the basis for the prosecution.
Since being removed from power in April of last year, Khan has been charged in over 100 instances around the nation.
