US President Joe Biden requested the citizens of America and urges them to leave Ukraine immediately. President further says that amidst the ongoing crisis in Eastern Europe, sending army troops for evacuation might lead to world war.
In an interview with NBC News, he said,
“It’s not like we’re dealing with a terrorist organization. We’re dealing with one of the largest armies in the world. It’s a very different situation, and things could go crazy quickly.”
“Do not travel to Ukraine due to the increased threats of Russian military action and COVID-19; those in Ukraine should depart now via commercial or private means,”
the advisory added.
The State Department approved the evacuation of family members of US diplomats and direct-hire workers on January 23rd. Given the uncertainty of the safety condition, US president requested US citizens in Ukraine to return immediately.
Americans who are still in Ukraine have been notified that if Russian military action occurs anywhere in Ukraine, the US government will be unable to assist them in evacuating. The issues guidelines further say that military action might occur at any time and without warning, putting the US Embassy’s capacity to offer consular services, particularly aid to US nationals leaving Ukraine, in jeopardy.
