The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on Monday,11th September, had a pertinent discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about broadening the horizon of bilateral trade and defence between India and Saudi also co-chaired the first meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council (SPC). They met at the Hyderabad house in New Delhi.During the meeting, PM Modi mentioned the significant relationship between India and Saudi. He pointed out the advantages of the partnership and its prolonged effect for the welfare of the people.
The Relationship between the two countries
India and Saudi Arabia have always shared an amicable relationship. They have historical and socioeconomic connections. The initial establishment of diplomatic relations was in 1947. The Prime Minister of both countries, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, visited each other. They strengthened the bilateral relationship and allied in 1955 and 1956. The historic moment and the turning point between the two countries was the visit of King Abdullah to India in January 2006. Saudi Arabia is our nation’s fourth-largest trading partner. Our nation imports 18%oil from Saudi. There are more than 745 joint ventures of management and consultancy services, construction and telecommunication projects.A population 2.2 million Indians are living in Saudi. There are millions of visitors to Saudi from India due to the annual pilgrimage of the Hajj.
President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi greeted the Crown Prince at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he inspected a combined defence services Guard of Honour. The Crown Prince congratulated India for a successful G20 presidency.
The Projet Details
India, Saudi Arabia, the European Union and the United States have collectively decided to build a railway and shipping connectivity corridor in the Middle East. Prime Minister Narendra Modi added that the historic economic corridor between these countries will lead to digital, economic and social connectivity. He appreciated the success and phenomenal growth of Saudi Arabia in the past few years.The crown prince and our prime minister evaluated the development of the various committees of the Strategic Partnership Council. There are two committees of the council, one on Political, Security, Social and Cultural Cooperation. The second is the Committee of Economy and Investments Cooperation.They analysed all aspects of bilateral relations, including political, security, and ties. The leaders also discussed regional and international concerns mutually. There were several ministers and senior officials who accompanied the prince.
Conclusion – Event of Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia hosted an event for three days with the various countries OF the G20Summit to provide a unified and synergetic experience of the different projects in Saudi. The event was called Media Oasis between the 9th and 11th of September. Speaking about the vast project at Bharat Mandapam, PM Modi acknowledged all the countries involved in the connection corridor and said that it will provide accessibility and long-term sustainability all around the world.
