India recorded its biggest win in the Asia Cup Super 4 contest amidst the two-day deadlock imposed by the rain in Sri Lanka.

Amidst the deadlock imposed by the rain for two days, An all-rounder Indian team backed by its great coordination recorded its huge win against its arch-rival Pakistan yesterday at R Premadasa Stadium in the capital of island nation Sri Lanka.

India had beaten the Pakistani team by 228 runs collecting two points. Thus climbing towards the top of the super four on the basis of its better Net Run Rate (NRR) followed by Sri Lanka and Pakistan who too have respectively gained two points.
Currently, Bangladesh is the sole nation who haven’t gained any point so far.
Highlights of the Match
After the resumption of the match after the rain, India continued its game with 24.1 overs. Mega batters KL Rahul and Virat Kohli did a phenomenal job establishing their score of 111* and 122* (94 balls) respectively.
They smashed hundreds without any challenge from the Pakistani team, thus powering the run at the score of 356 with only 2 out.
The bowlers too performed absolutely well in the match and managed to stop the Pakistani teams in their tracks by restricting them with the score of 128 with 8 out in just 32 overs.
How did India come out Triumphant
Rohit Sharma & Shubham Gill’s Partnership
Despite being dismissed early, Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubham Gill still managed to give India a decent start in the game. Due to their perfect Cooperative partnership, they managed to keep Pakistani bowlers at bay and achieved their near half-century.
Thus helping India later to establish their huge total at the game. They made 121 runs in 16.4 overs yesterday in Colombo.
KL-Rahul & Virat Kohli Partnership
In this ODI match, both batters KL Rahul and Virat Kohli performed very well in this match which powered India towards its ultimate win.
Despite rain playing a spoilsport and opening batters like Rohit Sharma and Shubham Gill being dismissed in the game early, they managed to achieve their fifty-run stand. With the help of recurring boundaries, they soon entered the sweet fifty score.
KL Rahul achieved his 6th ODI hundred after 100 balls while Virat Kohli became the fastest batter in ODI, to cross the 13K mark. Along with KL Rahul, he recorded 233 runs in a third wicket.
Man of the hour Kuldeep Yadav
The bowlers of the Indian cricket team were the real stars in yesterday’s match. Shardul Thakur managed to out the ever-dangerous cricketer Mohammed Rizwan in the 12th over. With Shardul Thakur giving a decent start to the bowling, Kuldeep Yadav further kept the momentum going.
At critical moments, Kuldeep Yadav managed to take important wickets for India. Thus achieving the impressive figure of 5 for 25 in 8 overs in his second haul of the ODI’s
In just the 20th over, Kuldeep Yadav managed to dismiss Fakhar Zaman followed by the early dismissal of Agha Salman in the 24th over.
With the early dismissal of Shadab Khan (28th over), Iftikhar Ahmed (30th over), and Faheem Ashraf (32nd Over).
The match ended in India’s favour with Pakistan ending the match with the score 128 for 8. Haris Rauf did not bowl yesterday and Naseem Shah was down with an injury.
Asia Cup’s 2024 Point Table

After India’s maiden win in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2024, India has established itself at the top position in the now updated point table. Thus replacing Pakistan from their position after yesterday’s match.
Besides Pakistan, other teams like Sri Lanka have acquired two points after the Sri Lankan team played one and two matches in Super 4 with India and Pakistan respectively.
The second Indo-Sri Lankan match is currently going on. As for Bangladesh, it is the only team with no gained points as they have lost two matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.
Their last match will be on 15th September 2024 on Friday with India.
