India’s colorful movement ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ towards 75th Independence Day Celebrations take a turn after PM Modi’s suggestion of hosting a flag on each householdÂ
Har Ghar Tiranga is a colorful movementcampaign launched by Prime Minister Modi on July 22, 2022, encouraging patriotism in the citizens of India. With the advancement of technology, the government with the help of the ministry of culture recently launched its own website which allows the citizens of India to virtually host a flag in their location. The website immediately attracted over 35 Million traffic.
Following the statement made by the prime minister, the Indian national tricolor flag is seen on various social media platforms as a display picture among users. However, the controversies on the amendment of the flag code on 2002 state otherwise as the low-income Khadi sector protests over the usage of cloth for the Indian national flag. Â
On 2002, the government of India along with the ministry of home affairs, New Delhi established a flag code law that is to be followed by the citizens of the nation. The flag code prominently states the following :
- The initial part states a description of the national flag.Â
- The second part states the display of the flag by members of the public, private organizations, and other institutions.
- Â The third part is about the display of the national flag by central and state governments, and their organizations/agencies.
With the flag hosting across the nation in each household the purchase of Indian flags has increased benefiting the retail market. However the traditional makers, the kadhi makers have lost their income and stand against this campaign in protest.
Has the government of India failed to notice the low-income economy sector by encouraging patriotism? Is the question asked by the kadhi makers in protest.
