3D-printed rocket engine factory, Space tech start-up Agnikul Cosmos has opened the factory in Madras.

India’s first 3D-printed rocket engine factory
India’s opened their first ever 3D-printed rocket engine factory recently. It was made with the help of a space tech start-up Agnikul Cosmos.In December 2020, Agnikul was the first Indian company to sign an agreement with ISRO.
It was unveiled by the Chairman of the Tata Sons N Chandrasekaran and the Chairman of ISRO, S Somanath in the presence of the Chairman of IN-Space, Pawan Goenka.
The facility is located in IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai. The facility is around 10,000 square-foot and consists of three 3D printers.
All the three 3D printers are 400mm and are under the same roof and can produce 2 rockets in a week. 2 rockets a week is roughly around 1 launch vehicle in a month.
The 3D printers are world-class and the facility also has many other world-class machines which help in making rocket engines under one roof.
Agnikul is making a rocket which will enable plug-and-play configuration and is capable of carrying a load of 100kg of payload to the low earth orbits.
Agnikul one of the founders of Srinath Ravichandran said in an interview that the facility would start producing launch vehicles by the end of the year. He also added that more facilities will open in future and plans for that are already underway.
Up till now Agnikul has raised total funding of Rs 105 crore from various investors like Mayfield India, Speciale Invests and many angels’ investors like Mahindra Group Chairman and etc.
