The decision to provide tickets for just Rs. 75 on September 16 as part of National Cinema Day was made by the multiplexes at the beginning of the month. The celebrations were reportedly advanced by a week at Disney’s request, who produced the film Brahmastra.
The new date for National Cinema Day is Friday, September 23. And it looks like it will be a huge success.
National Cinema Day
Millions of moviegoers are expected to attend the first-ever National Cinema Day (NCD), which is scheduled for this Friday, at drastically discounted rates on more than 4,000 silver screens around India. On the occasion of National Cinema Day, moviegoers can enter any theatre of their choice on September 23 for just Rs 75 per ticket as part of a promotion by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), along with other “special surprises” that have been prepared to commemorate the NCD.
The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) released this statement as a “thank you” to moviegoers for helping theatres successfully reopen following the Covid-19 era. Additionally, it serves as an invitation to moviegoers who haven’t yet returned to the theatres.
According to the association, the Indian film business is one of the most rapidly recovering industries worldwide. Operators of movie theatres reported outstanding figures during the first quarter of 2024. Some of the biggest domestic hits, including KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Vikram, Bhool Bhulaiya 2, and others, have been released this quarter.
Movie Theatres
PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Carnival, Miraj, City Pride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K, and Delite are just a few of the participating theatre chains and screens in India. Nationwide single-screen theatres have also stated that they will support the project. Additionally, tickets for ordinary seats will cost Rs. 75, while those for reclining seats will cost Rs. 100–200.
Additionally, IMAX ticket costs will be decreased. However, the Rs. 75 offer won’t be valid in opulent versions like Insignia, Gold Class, etc.
It turns out, though, that the promotion is not valid in a few South Indian towns, including Hyderabad. The largest multiplex chain in the nation, PVR, stated on its website that some cities, including Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, Mallapur, Guntur, Vijayawada, Narsipattanam, Chennai, Kochi, Trivandrum, Vellore, Chandigarh, and Coimbatore, would not be eligible for the deal.
AMB, INOX, Cinepolis, and other multiplexes in the city appear to have ticket rates at the standard rate when checked on BookMyShow and other ticket-booking apps.
Many people expressed their unhappiness on social media about the day not being observed in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. While some contend that the day ought to be renamed “North Cinema Day,” others defend the current name, suggesting that it may be the result of a lack of government approval.
Must Watch Movies
Quite a lot of movies in various languages are expected to be released. Avatar’s sequel, Avatar: The Way Of Water is scheduled to release on 16th December in theatres. Before this, the makers decided to re-release the prequel this month in a remastered 4K version.
The most popular film among viewers is “Brahmastra“, which is already performing well at the box office. According to a Bollywood Hungama story, all of the performances are likely to be sold out on Friday. The advance reservations are practically all taken. One might anticipate that the “Brahmastra” 3D night shows at well-known multiplexes in Mumbai would quickly fill up.
Chup starring Sunny Deol and Dulquer Salmaan which will be released on Friday has not received the kind of bookings that the film deserves, but it has nevertheless gotten off to a good start. Prem Geet 3 and other recent films like Chup, Dhokha Round the Corner, and others will also benefit from the same.
A positive reception is also being given to other regional films, such as the Marathi movie “Boyz 3“, the Gujarati smash “Fakt Mahilao Maate“, and the Hindi version of “Sita Rama”. (Source: Bollywood Hungama)
